1. is it because God's "clean" presence in contained in the book itself?

2. or just because you dont want to dirty the quran?

for christians, the Bible is the Word of God. but it is just a book made from papers. the Word becomes holy and powerful when we keep it in our hearts and live the Word out with our lives. so we are not concerned with the physical, but with the spiritual we are.

your question posted twice. I said:

I agree with muslimutterly(she said:RESPECT is the key brother.... by the way why would you want to bring anything that you hold in your hand to the rest room if you can't wash it afterwards... thats just gross )---but when I was Orthodox Christian we would never have done something like that. The priest kisses the bible when he closes it and stuff because he believes it to be God's words.

There are plenty of stupid things that muslims are commanded by islam to do and not to do. This is just one of them. In countries like Saudi Arabia, you can get jailed for tearing up a page from the Quran.

It's because they don't use toilet paper. The temptation to rip a page out is too much. Thus, they banned the book from the head altogether.
