1. is it because God's "clean" presence in contained in the book itself?

2. or just because you dont want to dirty the quran?

for christians, the Bible is the Word of God. but it is just a book made from papers. the Word becomes holy and powerful when we keep it in our hearts and live the Word out with our lives. so we are not concerned with the physical, but with the spitiual we are.

The Bible is a book and is a tool God uses to convey his word to us, we do not worship the book.

To the athiest person who answered... This question was obviously not for you, if you don't believe in God it's obvious you would think everything is dirt..

To answer your question... Would you take food into the bathroom? Would you even put one of your notebooks on the bathroom floor, after all one thing goes into your stomach and the other in your mind.

BUT the Quran is something that you have to show total respect to because the Quran is word of Allah, It mentions te word Allah all over the Quran... And it is clean and pure thats true and I understand what your trying to say about holding the words inside BUT... the place is not clean and pure its dirty and disgusting... Why would you put any Holy book inside if you can't even leave the place without washing your hands

Also, WE DO NOT WORSHIP the Quran, for the Christian brother who stated without knowing. We respect it and we follow it to the tee. Quran is a way of life, from sleeping to eating to marraige.. It is a guide, not ust book full of stories, So we respect it immensely... We do not worship anyone or anything but Allah

I agree with muslimutterly---but when I was Orthodox Christian we would never have done something like that. The priest kisses the bible when he closes it and stuff because he believes it to be God's words.

And isn't it ironic that the dirt and ugliness is inside the book actually. Not outside.
