I was in the 6th grade when WWJD became such a huge thing. I remember even writing a poem about it. The bracelets, tshirts, bumper stickers, pencils, keychains..etc etc. Of course it's still going on strong today, but it seemed like it was just everywhere those 8 years ago.

But what does asking What Would Jesus Do achieve? Does anyone know what Jesus would have done, truly? lol.

I see it as well intentioned, but perhaps errant. What the person who attempts the WWJD act is to project what it is they could think of, and place it upon Jesus. They make Jesus in their own image, so to speak. So whatever is decided may actually not be anything that Jesus might do in the specific circumstance.

All this is of my opinion, of course.

Good point. The problem with WWJD is that it assumes people always know exactly what He would do in any situation. But Jesus could be full of surprises. We may think we know the right thing to do but we could be wrong. The real question should be "What has Jesus done?"

Yes Have you read the original book In His Steps or the book practicing the presence of God? In the latter book the man ( this is part of his biography) would practice doing everything as if Jesus were right beside him as he went about his daily routine. As he cleaned, shopped etc..

For the most part, yes. But you have to know something about the character of Jesus, before you can base your decisions on what He would do. If you've never read the bible, then no.

Ha, I remember those days, I think I was in 9th grade when they first came out, or were at least most popular. I was still a christian back then, and there were times that it did help me to not "sin." Guilt from someone you think is the most powerful being in existence, who died for you is a powerful tool.

Jesus wouldn't have sinned, whatever it was he was doing, so it's just saying try to avoid sinning, even though that's impossible.

That's the way I take it.

We should try to do what Jesus would do, however, we often fail because of our sinful nature. God bless.
