It must have a 0-60 under 4 seconds.

It can be modded, but must be reliable.

Prestige and looks are a huge plus.

You're not going to get a sub-4 second 0-60 car for $38k. The most bang-for-the-buck speed out there is the Chevy Corvette, and a new one starts at $45k and does "only" mid-4s. A Chevy Corvette Z06 can run sub-4s but costs another $25k. A Dodge Viper is about the same speed as a Z06 but $10k more expensive, and anything faster than a Z06 or Viper would be a $150k+ exotic with a year long waiting list. And for young people (which I assume you are to be asking this question), the insurance is astronomical for any of these cars.

My advice? Don't try to pretend to be what you're not. Cars are an appliance, not a reflection of who you are.

Depends on what year youre looking for. For 38k you could get a bad *** Chevelle SS or Camaro SS from the 60s 70s. If you were to get a newer car the new Ford Mustang Cobras are pretty quick

Have you noticed we are in a gas crisis that is only going to evolve into a slight depression?

A hybrid of any sort will probably be THE only car of the future WITH a future,( and I mean immed. future 5-8 Yrs).

So "prestige" and "0-60 in 4 seconds" will become statements only rich Oil Barons sit & chat about.

If you know jack about cars buy a bone stock one thats fast. If you buy a highly modded car, once it starts breaking you wanna know whats what, if you didnt mod it, good luck.

I would reccomend a 1g (90-94) eclipse laser or talon, they are about 0-60 in 7secs or so bone stock, 4 seats, 30MPG and you can find one for under a grand if you look.

You're asking the wrong guy. If I had thity-eight thousand, I sure wouldn't waste it on a car...even if it did zero to sixty in four seconds or less!

Maybe some would recommend a BMW or Mercedes (you might be able to buy a used and modifioed German car for less than 38 thousand).

Buy a bicycle! It keeps you fit. You may not be able to afford filling it up once the gallon price goes past $10..... which is surely coming!

Whom do you want to impress?!? Are you so hollow that you have to do it with some metal with paint on it etc...... ????
