I have been having a lot of trouble with my faith lately and have been questioning everything. How can I be sure that God is there listening to me? It seems that no matter how hard I pray things keep going wrong or not happening the way they should. I prayed for my husband to get the job he needed to get to pay the bills. He didn't get it but later got a job that cut his pay by hundreds. It seems that my prayers are answered all wrong. How can I be sure God has anything to do with it? Blind faith isn't working very well anymore.

Blind faith is never something you should have but that isn't to say you should have no faith at all. Many people believe that all faith is blind when in fact one can be faithful with eyes wide open. It's a matter of finding a balance BETWEEN your faith and rational thinking. Personally I do believe in a divinity but my definition of "god" is different from the traditional view. In a way everyone has their own definition of what God is like, which would make since. After all he/she/it/they are/is supposed to be infinite right? It could be that your "definition of god" has become "outdated" and that's why you are starting to doubt. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Bad things happen all the time but that doesn't mean the divine has vanished. Nor does it mean that you've angered "god" or anything like that, sometimes people just get into a bad slump. You just have to work your way through it. Continue praying as I know that means a lot to you and there's no need to abandon it but also make sure you continue to work hard. That's really the best you CAN do. Don't give up your faith, but don't be afraid to let it change either. Follow your heart for it will tell you what is right.

Very good question and a very typical problem with people all peoples of faith.

First and foremost, unfortunately the answers you seek are not going to be as easy as a yes or no question. There are lots of things at work here.

First of all the big question does God answer prayers for Jobs? The answer is no. God is not a temp service. God will assist in the spiritual aspects of life, such as granting wisdom, determination, inspiration and patience.

We have to look deeper at the situation. Your husband’s pay cut was not your husband’s fault by any means and it is VERY unfortunate. God may be answering your prayers but perhaps your husband wasn’t paying attention when it happened. Maybe he overlooked the ad in the paper that had a job with great pay that looked as if it was meant for him…
In this situation I find that God helps those that help themselves.

And this is a VERY difficult task. It takes lots of work on both your parts. I know the feeling though, I have been exactly there and worse off. My faith dwindled to practically nothing.

However I was overlooking many signs, many answers. What it comes to God’s callings sometimes we forget to turn on the ringer. Sometimes some things don’t always look as good as they are, even gems can look like plain rocks when pulled from the ground.

Sometimes we have to take risks that we don’t normally want to take either. Just keep your chin up and keep an eye out for subtle signs.

Was your husband's job given by God or by an employer? Did he make a bargaining agreement with the employer as to how much should he receive as a take home after deducting all the necessaries? Did he get a job just to have a job and not on what he is an expert on where he could make demands?
You said that in your prayer you wanted your husband to get a job so you can pay the bills and that is what is happening I hope after all those cuts. It seems that your prayers are answered, what you asked is not clear that you also want is to get rich at once but just to pay the bills.
Don't you think you expect something from your husband that is beyond his ability? why don't you then also have a job yourself so, you can help. If you are working already, maybe you have to include learning how to live within your means, Do not ask God to do what you should be doing. He is the One expecting you to do many things for Him actually because he did not create you to use Him as your Genie.

Actually, it's not hard to believe.

By just looking into the things God created, you
cannot escape the fact that there's one GREAT BEING
who created all things that you can see (and even
invicible things).
Look at how organized the creation of the Solar
System is.
Planets revolve around the sun without each one of
them touching the others or bumping each other.
The reality is, it's already written in the bible!
Even before man's science discovered the thing called 'orbit's, it's already mentioned in the scriptures.
Let's read from Job 26:7,
"He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing."
and hangeth the earth UPON NOTHING.
Science add to the brightness of the truth mentioned in the bible.
You should never discount the bible as reference for your faith in the Creator, especially the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Just by looking at YOUR HANDS and noticing how your fingers are not equal in length when they are stretch, but when you try to touch your food by your hand, they fold in a way that they're perfectly placed!
Is that by accident? Anyone who is in his proper way of mind would not say that it is by accident. There is one very wise engineer who designed this magnificent creation.
Let's read Romans 1:19-20,
"because that which is known of God is manifest in
them; for God manifested it unto them.
For the invisible things of him since the creation
of the world are clearly seen, being perceived
through the things that are made, even his
everlasting power and divinity; that they may be
without excuse: "

You have no excuse. You have to believe in God.It
is a bad thing if you don't. Remember the verse:
Psalms 53: 1,
" The fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable
iniquity; There is none that doeth good. "

Not to quote a county song...but it is true that some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. God has a plan for you, and what you think you need and what you need are two different things. In the end it will work out. It's not blind faith...if you trust God and lift your problems up to Gods hands he will take care of you. Have honest true faith. Talk to your pastor and see if you can have a group prays for you and your family not to struggle. Faith & prayers are very powerful. Know that God is always listening and the he loves you. I will pray that things work out for you & your family. God Bless!!

It's usually in the hard times when our faith will either be strengthened or it will weaken. The question is, Who or what are you really putting your faith in? You are either going to believe and stand on what the Word of God says....that God is not a lier, that He will never leave or forsake you, that you have the victory in each and every situation.
Are you holding onto the situation and not really allowing God to work? Are you praying with faith or are you praying and not really expecting God to do anything? The Bible says that the prayers of a righteous man avail much. If you're in Christ than you're righteous. Also, faith comes by hearing and by hearing the Word of God. It really helps to quote scripture aloud.
The Word of God says that He is in control of all things. Many times it doesn't seem like it but that's where faith comes in. Hard times are meant to draw us even closer to Him because we realize we really need Him and we can't do it ourselves. That's when He comes to the rescue ( usually not when we want Him to ) and shows us that it wasn't us or someone else, but Him that saved the day and made it happen.
Faith, in order to become stronger, has to be exercised. It's like working out...if you don't keep using heavier weights than your muscles won't get stronger and grow.
Blind faith will never work well. You must see with the "eyes" of your heart even when you don't understand everything. God never said we would know everything just because we believe in Him. He promised to be our provider and our way.
I know what it's like to be in situations where you're asking God how it's supposed to work out. I'm there right now. But I know that He's faithful and if you put your trust in Him and believe His Word and keep praying with faith, He will see you through.

You may be out of God's will. When you pray God will answer your prayers according to His will. God is not a God that will give you what you want just because you request it, He is not a genie, He is the Holy Creator of the universe. God's will for your life is always the best for you, I guarantee it, remember He is much wiser than you. Another thing that could be wrong. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, because without Jesus we do not even have access to God. If you do know Christ as savior, then you are probably out of God's will and God not answering your prayers is Him just trying to draw you back to Him. The next time you pray, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, thank Him, ask Him to reveal His will for your life, and tell Him you trust Him completely. Remember when you pray you must have faith and it must be done in Jesus name. God bless.

Remember god always does us good, even if it is in aform we can't recognize. My mother has blind faith in god, I ask her "Why do you believe in god even after unfortunate things have happened to you"?? She says that god has a way of making things right even if you dont realize the way he has done it.

A woman would pray to god that she would be happy if she had a rich husband and a fantastic lifestyle and god would respond by giving the woman a beautiful baby. Now would that woman realize that she has been given a blessing?

I know you are in trouble now but keep your faith, God will always listen!!

Faith takes patience and understanding. Not everything goes the way we would want it to. Most often, when the path turns rough, we must bear up and try to seek comfort from within our given situation. Having to redress our lives to accommodate circumstances seems so unfair and at times hopeless, but if we use these times to dig in and fortify our spirituality, when we come out on the other side of hardship, we blossom from the knowledge that our faith got us through. The human spirit always can overcome all obstacles. When we give up, we become lost and hopeless.
