Atheists don't believe there are gods or goddesses. Astrology has nothing to do with gods or goddesses, so yes, an atheist can follow astrology. It's more a personal preference. Some say astrology is hogwash, others swear by it over their mother's graves.

nothing would prevent it as astrology does not claim it is the work of gods. Atheists don't believe in supernatural powers so most would probably see astrology as just another way of explaining things in an irrational unprovable manner. But as I say, it could happen

To believe in it, no. For fun, sure. Dawkins cites the tale of a friend that was named astrology editor of a newspaper. He cut up forecasts from a number of newspapers and magazines, put them in a hat, and for each day's edition of the paper, drew a dozen. Readers complimented him on his prescience.
