I'm currently in DEP for the Navy and they say that women can bring 8 pair of underwear and two cotton bras. My recruiter advised me not to. I dont want to get there and have them give me dreadfully uncomfortable undergarments.
Should I buy some to take with me or just wait until I get there?

my recruiter is a guy and he said that he didn't bring anything with him except for his personal documents and the clothes on his back.
Are you supposed to buy bras as well at the NEX?

ok i'm in the navy i'm a female and i went to boot camp about 5 years ago. yes you can bring your own stuff. there should be a list in your dep book of what you can and can not bring. follow that to a tee if not it will be sent home. bring white cotton briefs (granny panties) anything other than that will get sent home. when you get to boot camp and get all of your uniforms and such you will be allowed to purchase things at the nex (store). only bring the minimum amount of stuff with you!

Preggo wife is full of BS.....Not all Recruiters lie. It is just like every other profession there are some that are dishonest but the are few compared to the good ones.

As far as the underwear go....I would bring some white cotton"granny " panty style that you would not be upset about getting rid of....Just on the off chance you are not allowed to keep them.

Hmm....when my husband was in bootcamp for the Navy three years ago, no one was allowed to bring anything. As soon as you get your uniforms, the clothes you arrived in and anything else you may have brought, including underwear, were mailed home. You will be able to purchase everything you need, including underwear at the exchange on base. There was a girl in my husbands division that had her parents bring her underwear when they came for graduation; when she was caught, her liberty was taken away for the whole weekend.

Recruiters LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter what when you get to bootcamp they will make sure that you all have the same underwear. Whatever comfy underwear you bring will get thrown away, or put in your luggage to get at the end of boot camp.

Its white full cotton underwear.

I would say bring things you don't mind throwing away if you have to.That way if you are forced to use the things they give you,you won't feel bad for tossing out the things you brought.Just make sure whatever you bring is exactly what they said you could. But im sure when you are crawling on your belly in the mud,you won't really care how your underware feel, you will just be glad you have some :) <-Just kidding!GOOD LUCK!

Is your recruiter a female? If so, ask her reasoning. if your recruiter is a male...trust me things as far as underwear and such are different between men and women, take them if you want.

My husband was in the army and he bought his own. If I were you I'd ask why you shouldn't bring you won underwear. If you can bring your own underwear I'd buy all new ones.

I would bring some with you.. the worse thing that will happen is you will have to pack them up for your duration at bootcamp.. But at least you will have them just in case..
