Hey Ask Community,
Basically, Im hurting. My chest, ribs, thighs, groin, knees and ankles hurt me. Ive been to doctor upon doctor, and the best they can tell me is inflammation of the ribs, inflammation of the epididymis, inflammation of the patella, and inflammation of the achilles tendon. And yet the best they can do for me is give me Advil. Ive been to on orthopedist, podiatrists, urologist and yet they cant find anything thats wrong. My urologist made the comment that with everything that is wrong, there could be an underlying factor, and yet I had a full body workup done by my pediatrician, and he says that everything down to my sedimentary rate is optimal. Im sick of being in pain. I cant run, bend, twist, crouch, stand up, sit down without being in pain. Now with my groin problem, even walking is hard. What can I do? Ive been taking the advil and yet, after two years of these symptoms, the groin problem being the most recent, thats the best answer I can get. WHAT CAN I DO?

Im seeing a therapist who says I have anxiety and depression, but its been two years now, and I definitely dont believe at all my joint pain is correlated to my mind problems. I dont think that OMG MY LEG HURTS, it just does.

I have been growing kind of rapidly, it seems to have slowed down a bit though. I wouldnt assume that groin and rib pain would be correlated to growth though.

You don't state you age, but I'm assuming you're under 18 since you mentioned a pediatrician. You're so young to be in so much pain. These don't sound like growing pains. Growing pains tend to occur in longer bones, such as the femur (thigh bone).

I agree with the answerer that stated you need to see a rheumatologist. They specialize in arthritis disorders, autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

There is a disorder called ankylosing spondylitis that can cause some of the sypmtoms you mentioned. And it sometimes presents in mid to late teens. A simple blood test to test for the HLA-B27 gene, is often done to diagnose this disorder. ANY doctor can do this test, but it is often not considered until many other options are exhausted, numerous unnecessary and expensive tests done, and $$$$ in medical bills.

Ask your pediatrician for a referral to a rheumatologist. You may get your answers (and your relief) there.

I tried doing this for you, but I don't know the details of your symptoms. Go to webmd.com and do the symptom checker, it's really self explanatory, and it will give you virtually everything that could be wrong with you. It's not diagnosing you with any outcome it gives you, but it can help gain insight on what your going through. I'll be thinking the best for you.

try a pain management doctor because that is what they specialize in. i noticed you said something about a pediatrician and am wondering how old you are and if you may be going thru a growing spurt and that can cause some amount of pain in itself although i am not making lite of your situation. just a thought.

See a MD that specializes in pain (pain management specialists). A rheumatologist may also be able to help--they are more familiar with chronic pain syndrome.

have a full body scan,if thats all clear maybe the problem is in your head. When my dad was dying of bowel cancer i had all the symptoms that he had,so i thought i was sick too,so when he passed ,i had all the tests and they came back clear as it was all in my head.So chill out and enjoy life if not get a second opinion.goodluck
