Pick up a newspaper, subscribe to Newsweek (which will give you snipets of just the essential news info) or pick up a book on a subject that you enjoy and read about it. I'm not intending to say I'm "smart," but I learn a lot by picking up non-fiction books that focus on a particular subject (physics, history, geography, art) and read it for fun. Make sure you get a book that is interesting for you to read, otherwise there's no point.

1.) Read the news paper (or on-line) This will make you more worldly and help you appreciate you love of knowledge. Maybe you could read up on all the president hopefuls.
2.) Get a library card! There is no reason for you to spend a ton of money on books that you might end up mot liking.
3.) Read an intro to psychology book. This will teach you on how and why people do what they do. I think you might like cultural psyc (like how Japanese find it an insult to look some one in the eye while in the middle east if you don't its a sign of weakness)
4.) This is just my opinion but I think that it is extremely important to learn about all the different world religions. Maybe read up on the Dalai Lama who in the Buddhist religion believe is the reincarnation of Buddha himself. He is a very important person who has an unbelievable insight on how any why we are not happy.
5.)You can also do this on-line or you can read some magazines on modern technology and what are the news advancements.
All of this stuff is practical and will make you not only sound smart but be smart.

Reading is the best source of information. Science and technology magazines and national geographic are good reads and you can also find so much information in the newspapers about current events.
You could look into taking courses by correspodence that would get you ahead in school.

you extremely ought to analyze the two group's perspectives. Atheists ought to teach non secular people incorrect and cite science as their reference. non secular people have this unusual element talked approximately as faith that provides them some experience of peace or belonging. perhaps the non secular do no longer see the prefer in proving that they are extra desirable than the atheists using fact they do exactly no longer see the prefer. they have faith what they have faith and don't supply a crap what others think of. and that i think of you're generalizing too lots that non secular people are ignorant to the techniques of science and evolution. And who says you are able to no longer have faith in science and god on a similar time? after all, in case you think in an all valuable being, they could have the ability to doing actually something, like evolution. the final prognosis right it somewhat is that non secular people are extra content fabric and tolerant than atheists whilst it includes concept structures.

When I had that problem, I indulged my fascination with science, and read the chemistry and astronomy shelves in the library from one end to the other. Pick your topic(s), and go for it.
