As you can tell from the other answers, this is a common situation. We have that from time to time. Knowing we need to change, and doing it are miles away from each other.
To help yourself, decide ONE thing you want to change. Start small. Write down what that change is, then break it down into smaller tasks. Choose one of those tasks, and break it down, if possible, into smaller tasks again. Then pick one of those tasks and do it right then.
Once you have finished the first task, give yourself a reward. Not too big to start, just something like a 5 minute break, a glass of water, or a 10 minute walk.
Now choose another task from the list and do the same things. You will find this system can be quite effective.
Lastly, after a few rewards, skip one. And don't over do the work. Sometimes we are so empowered by our initial success we work to exhaustion, and don't want to start again because we know how much work there is to do. That's my biggest challenge. So, take a lesson from me, and space out your changes and your rewards. Look back in one month to see how well you are doing.

Probably because it is harder to start doing something then it actually is to do it. Once you start doing something to improve your life, it gets easier to keep on doing it. Not sure how old you are, or what exactly you are trying to improve, but if you have an idea of what you are trying to improve, it's a lot easier to get started. If you are in school, you might want to focus on trying to improve your grades. If you are legally old enough to work, you might want to get a job. Nothing improves your life more than working while going to school, I have yet to see someone fail at life if they are able to balance both work and school (and do well in both).

Humans have tried to improve their lives, and the lives of others, in recent times, and perhaps longer. Yet look at the condition of this world. Do you see how improved it has gotten? We have improved military powers, improved highways, improved shopping experiences. We have improved concrete jungles called cities and improved transport and it's improved improved, improved! Things have gotten so vastly improved that little remains which is not improved....

Damn.

I wish you would have went into detail.
But I know exactly what youre talking about. I quit my job about 2 weeks ago, it was a stupid job, and Im only 20 so I feel like its not a big deal...but obviously I need a job, and I havent even really looked yet.

All Ive really done all week is sit around and be depressed b/c my friends suck, and so does my entire life, but Im not doing anything to change it!! I know its all up to me, Im just scared, and its easier just not to decide!!!!

The point is...we all just need to find a way to get all our asses in gear!!!
Good Luck!

What you might try is to set yourself some smaller goals first -- something attainable, rather than the larger goals. Then, when you meet that first goal, it will feel satisfying, and then you may have that incentive to shoot for the next goal.

You can supplement this with a sort of reward/punishment system imposed on yourself. If you make your goal, you get to do something fun for yourself. If you do not make your goal, you miss out.
