I do... without religion, people would be forced to think for themselves, give themselves credit for living their lives and they'd also be forced to confront life using science and logic rather than fairy tales. The vast majority of them cannot do that.

I think we would be. But, It is obvious that it does some good for the people that believe. (most of them) So I can't have a real fault with it. It's when the people use this religion for their own political gains and games we would be better off without it.

Books do not kill people.
People kill people.
If people who claim to follow a religion of peace would actuallly follow a religion of peace, they, and the resto of the world, woud be much better off.
If people who claim to follow a Diety would actually follow that Diety instead of making up rules as they go along, they, and the rest of the world, would be much better off.
Religion is here. Religion has been here throughout mankind's history. Religion must serve some purpose. Religion doesn't look as if it is going away any time soon.
Get over it.

I am a Christian and belong to no religion. I do meet with people that believe like I and we do discuss the Bible and sing and pray but we are not of a religion. No man tells us what to do and when.We govern ourselves and all are equal..So one can be a Christian without rules or laws put upon us by man.

That depends on what you mean by "religion". If you mean man-made religions with all their meaningless rituals and false teachings, then I would agree with you. But if by religion you mean an accountability to the real God, then I don't agree. Unrestrained human behavior always leads to evil. Look at the Nazis in World War 2. There is a good illustration of unrestrained human behavior. When societies ignore God and his principles, they generally decline. It may take decades to occur, but to my knowledge, it always does.

Our religious TEXTS have spilled blood? Last I checked, a book doesn't kill people. Well...not unless they're chucked through the air with intent to dent someone's noggin.

EDIT:

The guy below me is spouting a mouthful of nonsense. Hey dumbass, Christianity IS a religion.

It is a disgrace.

I think we're better off ACCEPTING what we THINK religion is about.

If ISLAM is the relgion of PEACE, walk up to the ZIONISTS in ISRAEL and say, PEACE, turn, walk away and never harm them again.

PROVE it IS the RELIGION OF PEACE

Otherwise it's a farce
