There are a lot of WWII ships that cannot be touched. Is there anythink specific that refers to this or is it just understood. (Navigational hazards aside, etc.)

Sunken warships are considered the sovereign territory of the nation or successor nation that owned them.

So if an American submarine from WWII was found, it would be considered American territory. Now if a ship from the Soviet Union was found, it would be considered Russian territory.

I think it is up to each country to pass these laws, and that each country did.

I was always taught it was maritime law to leave these ships as they fell...............
