Is it even legal for 13 & 14 year olds to babysit? I wouldn't leave you in charge of my kids unless I had a babysitter for you two also! Sorry to be blunt, but kids are peoples most prized posessions, we don't just leave them with anyone!

Its hard getting started babysitting, especially when you are young. It doesn't mean that you should give up, maybe expand your possibilities. I have a 10 yr old & a 1 yr old and I would love for a 13 or 14 yr old to help me out at home. Sort of a mom's helper. You could help with the kids or chores or anything the mom needs help with. Plus then the moms will get to know how you act around the kids and the moms could recommend them to friends. By next summer you will be booked all the time. Its hard to find trusting babysitters, so get in the door another way as a mom helper.

If I were you I would take a few classes to help. They have babysitting classes, art classes, and most important CPR classes. Get some references ready for people when they call. Even if you haven't done a lot of babysitting then find people who know your character and how good you are with kids. Prepare some activities that you can show parents what you might do while you are watching their kids. Also get a sheet for them to fill out saying where they are going to be and who to contact in case of an emergency. Parents don't like babysitters who sit and watch TV while their kids run wild. They also want to know their kids are safe and that you know what to do in case of an emergency. If you do these things then you will not only get babysitting jobs but you will be able to keep the ones that you do get.

You are on the right track. Besides the flyers put up posters with tear off tabs on the community bulletin boards at grocery stores, the library, anywhere that parents with small children will frequent. Give out little business cards to the people you do babysit for and ask them to share your business cards with their friends and when they have five of their friends give you a job then you will give them one night of free babysitting.... there are lots of ways to get your name out there, just be real sure who you go to work for if someone you know can't vouch for them. Putting your name out there might attract the wrong type... so be careful and good luck finding the work.

being certified helps allot but allot of parents wouldn't trust a 13 or 14 year old to babysit small children. I have 2 kids myself a 2 year old and a 1 year old. it's allot on me to handle them not to mention being 13 and 14 trying to deal with them. sorry i hope i helped you and not upset or discouraged you.

Try putting a poster in your local churches. Also if there is a parent group you could let someone know of your service. Also try the local YMCA, or fitness club. Many moms are there and are looking for suitable childcare.

well what you really have to do is gain respect from the people you babysit for and then they may be nice and tell their friends about you guys and then you have a chain if you continue to do a good job then they will tell more people about you so you can get more jobs

Nothing will happen all on a sudden. It is a gradual process.Once you get popularity even among few,the news will percolate and watch the result. It will be beyond your expectations and you will find it difficult to cope with.1st
experiment with the few you have. Those few will serve your purpose if you are really serious about it.

go to a daycare or summer VBS and when moms see how good you are they will approach you. You kind of how to do it for free until you get a good reputation, and it will spread quickly if you pay attention to the kids and stay off the phone.
