Yes. There is a saying I remember my mother using when I was young, "They are so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good." It is a condition that has been around a long time.

Yes. People are not perfect, and they can find all kinds of ways to distort the truth. But this is a difficult question to answer, since you have to determine which "reality" you're talking about.
Different religions have different perspectives on what "reality" is. Reality can be mysterious and confusing in the first place, when you think about it. I think there is an absolute reality, but some people believe that it's all relative, so it depends on who you ask.

It is possible because some lose sight that they still have to exist in the world, whether they're worldly or not. I can speak as a Christian about some Christians that I've seen behave this way. I believe that God wants us to be good Christians, love each other, learn from each other. But I know that we're on this earth for a reason and it's to make a difference here. Sometimes some folks lose sight of this and stop paying attention to the world around them. How can one learn if they don't acknowledge what surrounds them?

Yes this is highly possible.
If a person chooses wisely this can be avoided.

Spiritual life and the reality we dwell in ( The world) must be tempered through "Wisdom".
"Wisdom" is the double edged sword that allows man to differentiate between, right & wrong, appropriate & inappropriate, proper indulgences & Overindulgences, etc.

Without "Wisdom" to light mans path, he can get caught up in the Illusion of the world, and the insatiable ego will be allowed
to run wild.

A key phrase that one should follow is, "Moderation in all things".
Balance within the world is like walking on a razor blade that has been sharpened a thousand times.
"Wisdom" is what makes this sojourn through the world much
more understandable.

I think so. Once I went to church and there were some really out of control people. They started lying on the floor. And some shake. Also, some people live life all by their beliefs and lose alot of their friends, that's what happened to my cousin. But, yeah I think you can lose touch with reality.

Yes. It happened to me. I lost the touch with reality when I most needed to feel the reality, I can say it was fatal...

Religion is the best thing ever, but do not lose touch with reality.

oh yes oh yes oh yes oh yes....(I know, how do I REALLY feel, right?)

After some seriously questionable behavioural choices, I have come to the conclusion the middle way is a very fine way indeed, therefore, Buddhism.

I tend to become a little over zealous otherwise.

And, I have always believed reality was over-rated, so there wasn't much holding me back. Of course, what I accept as "reality", most would poo-pah as absurd (and do regularly here in the land of YA)
- so it's all still relative, isn't it?

My religious beliefs are what give me a more accurate view of reality. A world view without God is far removed from reality, since God is the ultimate reality and the source of all other reality.

Yes, its definitely possible. Cults actually count on people becoming so caught up in "faith" that they ignore the outside world and reality.

This doesn't just happen with cults, though. Look at the suicide bombers. Look at abortion clinic bombers. Obviously these people get so caught up in doing "God's work" that they don't seem to have any grasp on reality.

The main side effect of religious beliefs tends to be losing touch with reality.

The answers are for you to find!
Dreaming is a fantasy created by your own special mind.
Is dream from anyhting or from reality?
I believe it comes from reality.
Believing in GOD is a reality.
Trying to know and understand HIS ways are definitely real.
Your faith will envelope You from the OTHERS that you will find your self loosing their social realm/world.
Then YOU will begin to unravel the mystery because YOu began to understand the meaning of life through HIS words.
Ergo, HIS words will be your basis of existence or reality.
Then what is REAL?
THEY or HIM?
