snootily point out another user's grammar or spelling mistake, even though it does not interfere with the interpretation of the question or statement?

if they are your age or older then yes. It makes you seem like you think you are smarter.

Well, I don't think it'd be to rude if you said it nicely, but a) if you say it snootily that's rude and b) some people might take a kind suggestion the wrong way. I think if you're going to point out people's spelling or grammar errors you should do it kindly and not in a "I'm better than you" kind of way.

No, it is not rude at all. The person was probably just lazy and didn't feel like spelling or saying the word right. In fact, make this person drop and give you 250 pushups while you're at it. They'll thank you for getting them buff and getting them a date because who wants to go out with a flabby user of poor grammar?

To say it "snootily" would be rude. If you must say something, think of some honey-coated way to say it. That's usually more effective anyway. Also, its generally not necessary to state the obvious.

I have a friend and when we are talking I will pronounce a name or word as it is pronounced where I live. He lives in a different state. At any rate, he will immediately give "his" version of the name or word by butting in on me.

Yes, I find it very rude and, actually, lowers his creditability as far as I am concerned. If he can't accept the fact that people in different areas of the USA pronounce words differently....he is sorta "dense". Pops

If the person is an adult, yes, I do believe it would be rude. Unless, of course, this person has requested your input or evaluation of a document or statement.

it probably is rude but I do it anyway! Some girl was typing "pregnet" instead of pregnant so I corrected her!

I understand that pregnant is a very very hard word to spell but if someone cannot spell it than they really need to reconsider becoming it!

No, i would not be rude. Some people like their answers to be grammatically correct. Just tell them that you are one of those people.

I would take it offensively, but then again it does irritate me when people cannot spell. I guess many would consider it rude.

i think so because words are just symbols representing thoughts if the thought was successfully passed on then the symbol is right
