I've been staying up till 5 or 6 am all night during the summer since last year. I was just wondering, is this extremely unhealthy and will it stump my growth or anything like that? Am I doing anything to my body that will cause a problem besides a messed up sleeping pattern?

It's really not good for the body. You'll have less energy during the day and you wouldn't be able to focus or concentrate for any good period of time. Also mentally your brain 'files' and store events of the day at night while you're asleep that's how your memory of things begin. Therefore without proper and enough sleep your also messing up the proper function of the brain. This part I'll need to go research, but what if there's something like a brain overload due to insufficient sleep and the brain being forced to hold too much info. without properly sorting and filing them? Pretty scary.

Anyway sleep is not only good and necessary for the physical body but the mental and pyschological as well. So get it.

If you are getting around 8 or 9 hours of sleep (waking up at 2pm or 3pm) it is still ok, if you are getting less sleep then it's a problem. However you won't sleep as soundly in a room that isn't dark and quiet which could start to affect your health.

However sleeping till 3pm every day suggests you are not doing anything productive with your summer, maybe you should think about better uses for your time than whatever you are doing all night until 6am.

As long as you get 8 hours of sleep, you will be fine. Sure your sleep pattern has changed a bit, but make sure you can undo it untill school starts.

2-3 summers ago I would stay up till 2 everynight and wake up around 11:30. Good times.

It is not unhealthy as long as you're sleeping during the day to make up for it. It will, however, be hard when school start again. I used to do that every summer, too!

You should get as much sleep as you can, sleep when it's dark, that's why it's dark....something about it, it's better for your body. Give your body a rest, there's no reason to stay up that late.

I say cheers and good for you. If you can still function and get stuff done than night time is better. Sun will burn your eyeballs out and give you cancer.
Mooning is nice.
no SPF needed!
