This is an awesome verse and so true. Contrary to many of the answers about "force",God is a Loving, full of grace, forgiving, just, and merciful God. It says "AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE WILL BOW" !(caps emphasis is mine )! ( not force)! Nowhere in that verse is the word force.....Psalms 86:9 All NATIONS (caps emphasis is mine) whom thou has made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. (shall come, and not force). Isaiah45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue will swear. ( take an oath to God )( Not force)........I hear from a lot of Christians that God doesn't want puppets, (hence, free will), That He doesn't force us to come to Him. Well if He isn't forceful in this life, then why would He use force in the next?

In this verse the translation of "confess" means simply to agree that Jesus Christ is your Lord, as God the Father has meant for him to be.

Yes! This verse says that everyone will confess the truth whether while they are alive, or after they die. You can realize the truth before its too late, or you can come before God on judgement day and be forced to tell the truth on your knees before being sent to hell.

So, we have a piece of prose written by a convert to the Jewish sect known as Christians contained in a collection of fictitious stories that self-referentially proclaims itself to be the ultimate truth, and we're expected to be inspired and be in complete accordance with this snippet of fantasy?
Frankly, that verse leaves me cold, revealing as it does the absolute arrogance and misplaced notions of superiority of christians. That people can be committed to such a degree to something that is patently a fiction, a fantasy, fills me with dread. is the world so full of weak minded individuals that cannot deal with reality and logic that they not only have to invent imaginary super-beings, but they then delude themselves to the extent that they are utterly convinced of their "duty" to attempt to ensure that anyone who dares think differently to them is converted to being in a similar delusional state.

Praise God. One day everything will confess that Jesus is Lord. I just pray that more people do it by choice not by force.

yes every knee will bow to Jesus-either in this life or at the judgement seat on the way to hell tormented forever -what a wasted life to live and die rejecting Jesus and then bowing anyways!
this helped me to come to know Jesus personally =according to Jesus the Word of God made flesh (John 1:1&14) "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 11:17
If ones faith is in anything else they are trusting in error and will fail
this is what brought me as a Jew to the true faith in Jesus my savior best friend and joy and inner peace of my life and heavens promise too!=may I suggest true love that never ends and gets better every day-worked for me to come to true faith &=Love is the salutation of the angel to the stars.
For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in him wont go to hell tormented forever perised from God, but have the more abundant and everlasting life. John 3 & 10 and dont forget
Revelation 3:19&20 Jesus saith "I love you and ask you to repent from your sins (even one lie) and ask me in to be your friend."
how I got this true love that lasts-I prayed "Jesus thank you that you love me unconditionally, I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."
Revelation is a key -and Romans 1 said when we are unthankful and chose to worship the created instead of the creator-we need a new beginning in our life.
praying for you to find the true faith too, in amazing grace that saved me. David

Matthew 22 financial disaster Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy techniques. 38 it is the 1st and super commandment. 39 And the 2d is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On those 2 commandments hang each and every of the regulation and the prophets.

I think it sounds like every other trite and vague verse found within the bible's pages. If god/jesus/whatever really "meant" for that statement to be true, then he probably(note sarcasm) wouldn't have given us free-will. With his "almighty foresight" he must have seen that going over well with everyone.
Stop kidding yourself.
