there is absolutely zero medical data that supports statements that resistance training stunts the growth. regular exercise is nothing but beneficial to the body and especially during the growth years as it increases the output of many helpful hormones.
the only bad exercise is the one being performed improperly...

No, It will not effect your physical growth. Working out stimulates the mind and th body, it fills you with testosterone and relieves stress. You should, however, refrain from "maxing out," do alot of light weight at first, your young, get your form down! As you get stronger increase the weight, I would not recommend testing your one-rep max until you are 15 or 16.
Now, if you are interested in playing football, WORK YOUR LEGS. Dont be awed by the masculinity of bench pressing. If you enter the 9th grade and can power clean exceptionally well and squat a good deal, you will be much better off than having alot of upper body strength.
In conclusion, no matter your age you should always take more time to stretch and run than working out. Flexibility and endurance give you the ability to utilize all the strenght you gain!

A lot of male gymnasts are relatively short guys... and people seem to attribute that to training.. but maybe they were always destined to be short guys ... and that build lends itself to gymnastics?
Anyway, if you workout on core muscle groups and eat properly you will improve your potential for growth, I think, by reason that working out promotes the bodies natural production of growth hormones..

HA! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Have you listened to the news lately?
More PE! Less fat in school foods!
More exercise for teens!
I'm a teen too, and the number one thing health experts want teens to do most is to exercise! well, maybe second, first is to do good in school.
so, no, it will definitely not stunt your growth
I'm thirteen and I will be turning 14 soon too!
