The way I remember, you eat half a grapefruit, before each meal, I can't really say how it works, but I used to drink a lot of grapefruit juice instead, and I lost a lot of weight that way.
I am diabetic now, so I have to be careful, right now I am using www.slimfast.com, you will be able to track your weight, what you eat, get support from e-mail buddies.
This website can even calculate how long it will take you to lose your desired weight. You should at least give it a look.

Well, I have lost about 50 lbs by using sugar-free products, cut out as much bread as I can, and not frying much of anything. Roasting or nuking is better! If I want chocolate, I buy the sugar-free chocolate.
Make sure and take a vitamin each day and only eat when you get good and hungry from Mon-Fri, then, on Sat & Sun you can splurge a little! Just not too much!
I limit myself to 1 soda per day & I hate diet soda! Iced tea with sweetner is no-cal heaven!
I've tried the grapefruit diet and it's worthless!

to get permanent results you have to make permanent changes in your lifestyle - follow a diet you can follow from now on.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

PLEASE before you try something like that, read the book "Perfect Weight" by Deepak Chopra. It's a whole different kind of lifestyle and weight-loss plan that works WITH your body's natural health instead of fighting against yourself all the time. I have lost 35 lbs without being hungry or doing strenuous exercise, and I am actually having fun doing it. So please consider checking it out. I'm not selling it or selling anything, I'm just so excited at how well it works.

so you want a plan to lose weight?
you have the solution at hand.
the whole world talks about diet plans,
when it is
actually very simple and it is just a choice.
start to live your life with " Integrity"
in other words, do the right thing and stick to your decision.
of
stop eating so much.
you can enjoy all foods, just in very small quantities.
eat ice cream if you like, but just one tea spoonful.
i did not say it would be easy or fun.
but do you want to be slim. stop eating so much
you can do it. and think thin.
stop eating so much food. again it is a choice
you might be hungry eating less but you will be thin
or
you can eat what you like and be a fatty.
you choose.
you cannot have both.
good luck.
