I'm trying to be healthier and drink only water and cut out all the soda, coffee, juices I was used to drinking. I love the way water is making me feel healthwise, but I'm running to the bathroom ALL the time. Why does water make you urinate like crazy compared to other liquids? Is there a cleansing process going on? Because I never had to go to bathroom like this when I drank sugary drinks/coffee.

I'm drinking about 60-65 oz of water a day and I weigh about 145. I heard that is a good amount but I am a little worried about water intoxication.

you are right about the cleansing=water flushes out the waste fats and it keeps you hydrated =even though you go to washroom more often you still end up healthier

Your body needs to maintain a balance between water and a variety of other things such as salts, sugars (glucose), etc. If you drink too much water, your body has no need of it, and you excrete it in your urine. If your body has too little water, you get thirsty. While the old "rules" said you should drink 8 glasses of water a day, more recent reseach has suggested that this simply doesn't matter - and that all you're going to do is (surprise) pee more! They concluded that if you need water - guess what? - you'll get thirsty! (And who knows how much money they spent to figure that out...???)
If you REALLY drink too much water, it IS possible to develop water intoxication. This occurs when the electrolytes (like those salts and sugars I mentioned), are so diluted that the heart is not getting the right balance, and doesn't have the right electrolytes to trigger a steady heart rate. That's not to scare you - it's just to point out that too much of ANYTHING is seldom a good idea.

the water is more "pure" liquid - it does not have fats or sugars for your body to digest and store, so you are getting more water per mil. drinking straight water compared to coffee or anything else. even thirst quencher drinks or energy drinks do not supply the same good effects as just water. changing your regular drinks of coffee and pop to water has enormous health benefits, but don't drink too much or you'll get bloated with water. for the first while of the diet, until you find out how much water you need, and until your bdy adjusts, you will go to the bathroom alot more, but it is a good thing, as it is flushing years of chemical and caffiene and sugar build up from your system

other liquids Like pop have a ingredient called sodium. It actually dehydrates you making you have to pee less. You got used to this. Plain water Hydrates your body making you much healthier cleaning your body out and giving your kidneys a break. If you notice your pee is clear now too. This is a very good thing it means you are properly hydrated. Your downside to living healthy, is yes you pee more often.

I don't mean to be rude... but PLEEEASE! Water cleans your system; that and being hydrated are the important things about drinking water. Once your system is fresher... you will pee less. Of course, it never hurts to use Kegal exercises (look it up) to strengthen your muscles so that you can control what's happening down there (% Have a great life! Hugs, Gina C.

Don't confuse being thirsty with hunger. Drink a glass of water when you feel hungry to see if that is what you're really craving.

actually, yes there is a cleansing going on. your kidneys are full of that other stuff and make it clog and slow down. now, that you are rinsing with water everything flows better. Just like drano/ or liquid plumber.

Use a vegetable bean dip for instance hummus instead of ranch dressing or a fatty cream-based dip.

i cut out sugar as well and i pee alot too. so i no how you feel. its ok but you should make sure and replace your minerals that you loose peeing so much. so drink grapefruit juice and eat bananas. if you eat stuff like celery and lettuce that contain alot of water instead of drink you will pee less

Do your trips to market with a list and a time limit; that way, you're more unlikely to stray into the highly processed foods section.
