He was expressing an opinion that many of his generation held.
It had nothing to do with the realities of Rock and Roll, It was more of a generation gap thing.

Well, to give Frank some slack, he was the master male singer of what's arguably known as the "golden age" of love songs and ballads, and I would imagine that for someone like him, rock n' roll must have sounded about the same as fingernails on a blackboard. I can't totally agree with his quote, but I can understand how he must have felt.

Frank was at his best only when he was singing.
Each generation's music is just as valid as his.

Whoever that Frank is i don't know,but what he said is definitely not true.That proves that he doesn't understand music well enough.For someone who is good in music, he or she will try and appreciate any songs, and understand about the feelings of the person who wrote it,not criticised about a particular type of music.If everone is like him then slowly pop music ,country music, and all the other music will disappear!
