Pathfinder The Movie

I am surprised to say I am not familiar with this movie, so I cannot answer that specifically. As a former student with years of study in Old European literature -- in particular what many people call "Viking" -- I can tell that the language these people spoke was Old Norse. The Old Norse language laid the foundation for what later became Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Icelandic and also German.

Owing to its relative isolation, the Icelandic language is the closest surviving link to the Old Norse tongue. So close has it remained that even school children there can go to the Icelandic heritage museum and read almost complete manuscripts over a thousand years old.

Eg thaka ther, og blessi thig lika (I thank you, and bless you also).

Vikings speaking Russian? That's weird. I always thought they spoke a language called Old Norse which is very close to Icelandic.

Haven't watched the movie yet.

I wouldn't trust a movie where Vikings wear horns on their helmets and Native Americans speak English, to have Vikings who speak real Norse. I see that Gubbi Sigurdsson is listed as "voice actor", and he is born in Iceland. But OTOH one of the writers, Nils Gaup, was born in Norway.
