Treating head lice may include the use of a specialized comb to remove nits or medications that may be available over-the-counter or by prescription, depending on the severity of the infestation.

All medicines used to kill hatched head lice are called pediculicides. Treatments are often effective at killing nymphs (newly hatched lice) and adults, but not nits (lice eggs). The appearance of nits alone without lice does not by itself indicate an active infestation. Nits may remain for several months following successful treatment. In addition, patients who have been successfully treated with lice medication may continue to experience itching for a few days following the treatment.

Head lice only live on hair, yes, but your body is covered in hair. I have seen someone who had them in their eye lashes and eyebrows, but thats quite extreme I believe. I suppose they could spread to pretty much any area of your body covered in hair, if they spread enough, but that would take quite some time. Try using RID shampoo, available at your local drug store. Also, make sure after shampooing, you thoroughly comb the hair with a lice comb and remove ALL the nits(eggs) in the hair, or you will most likely have to repeat the shampooing process.

Lice only live on hair. To get rid of them, try the commercial products available at the drug store.

There is a product that is available at most drug/discount stores called RID. Follow the instructions. And yes they can get on other parts of the body. They cling to hair and prefer really clean hair as it gives them a rougher surface on which to attach. Try washing your hair only every two to three days. Hair that is slightly oily - I did say "slightly!" - doesn't allow the little pests the grip that they need.

Use a commercial kit that they have at your pharmacy. Another good tip, lice only like clean hair, so when your hair is clean put gel or mouse on it which makes it artificially "dirty" so lice won't like it.

Go to the pharmacy and get NIX shampoo or one of the other brands of Lice shampoo. Yes they can get on other hairy places. They can be spread on bath towels, sheets very easily too.
