I agree that there have been many atrocities committed in the name of God (take your pick a to WHICH god, because it applies to most). The fact is, however, religion is not the culprit, human nature is.
I find it ironic that so many wars have been fought in the name of God(s)--that's not to mention the smaller-scale individual actions that have occurred--when just about every religion hinges on the so-called "Golden Rule." If only people would do as their own religions say--"Do unto others as thy would ave done unto you" and "Love thy neighbor"--the world would be a great place to live.
Sadly, however, religion often simply gives us an excuse to do the things that we would do. It's also been a handy justification for such things as war, when the real reasons have been for the personal gain and gratification of those in charge.
Faith is an amazingly powerful tool. But just as with any tool, it can be dangerous if used improperly. Just the same as you should use goggles and gloves when using power tools, one should use a bit of logic, "common sense" and individual thought right along with faith.
Any religion that tells you otherwise is dangerous.

I just don't like other people's beliefs being shoved down my throat. It's not fun at all.
I've noticed many Christians blindly believe whatever they've been told in Sunday School, and haven't bothered to do any objective research. They try to convince me to believe their religion based on third grade level arguments, and then they get annoyed with me when I refuse to be swayed by their "logic".
Just live and let live :)

Like I said Under God even you are created equal that is why we are a Christan country and not Islam or atheist. Christian: You are just saying that because you don't know him.

I do squirm at the ignorance atheists exhibit. According to the declaration of independence, it is because of GOD we have rights to begin with and even the founding fathers knew that.
Do these words ring a bell?
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
The only people trying to take rights away are atheists stripping away at Christian representation piece by piece.

alright, dude. i just want to know one thing. why is it that people of different religions can usually get along with each other, but athiests have to complain about it all? and don't give me the holy war crap. i'm talking about in america right now. we are talking about rights after all. also, if you check the constitution, it says freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM it. that means that everyone uses their beliefs in harmony with each other, not that everyone hides them because they're afraid somebody will get offended. what's to be offended by anyway? if you don't want to hear it, you don't have to listen. i'm glad you think christians are wonderful, because many are. i happen to think many athiests are wonderful. it's a shame we can't agree on things, but even if we can't, can't we just respect each other without putting limits on each other? can't we all just get along? isn't that what we all want anyway?

i think athiests are just blind to begin with you dont have to be a christian to see that there had to be more then just evolution in play that we all exist... seriously im not joking look at the facts since that what you all are all about.... we went from a monkey to a human like that just "snap" and one day our brain started developing ? grew twice the size ? and we gained self concousness ?
