People keep saying pull out of Iraq, but do you realize how weak their military and police force is? If we pull out do you know how many thousands of innocent people will die? Do you realize that if we pull out, there will be a surge of terrorist attacks all acrosss the world. I think we are doing the right thing.

Don't believe CNN, they are bullshit. All they put on the news is that 5 soldiers got killed in a car bomb accident. They never show the good things that happen, they never say "Today, 87 women and children were liberated from a city that was under siege by terrorists".

We had no business? So you think we should have just let a cruel dictator kill of thousands of people while we watch it on the news. So you're saying if the house next to yours was run by a dictator who was slowly killing off the people living there, and the people there were killing each other, you wouldn't do anything about it?

No, but Al-Qaeda is Shiite and they are killing the Sunnis, and if the Iraqis don't like it, would they rather live with the fear of going outside and getting in the face by an Ak-47 bullet?

We are there to Bolster the New Iraqi Gov until such time as it can support it's self and protect it's people from out side influences.
With out our help Iran would take over and turn Iraq into a Killing Field such as the World has never seen. After killing off all Iraqi's unwilling to support Iran they would turn the newly expanded area of Iran into training camps for their Army and terrorist.
Iran has been supplying Terrorist in Iraq with weapons and training all ready, taking over Iraq would just make thing easier for Iran to train Criminals.

I haven't seen so much misinformation about a military situation since the last time I read an intel summary in Vietnam. No, we had no damn business going after Saddam, we had bigger and guiltier fish to fry in Afghanistan. For The Current Occupant to attack Iraq after 9/11 makes as much sense as FDR invading Spain after Pearl Harbor (both dictators: Franco and Hussein...read a book, people!) But, we are there and it is up to some grownups to take over and try to fix the mess we have created. How? Damned if I know, that kind of thinking is over my pay grade but there has to be somebody out there who has the brains and the balls to tell the weenies in the political bases (both left and right) to stick it... then do the job. The Fools on the Hill in Congress have proven that they are more interested in making campaign money and face time on the evening news so they ain't gonna be much help. The Bushies have a bigger record of military incompitance than the French and the other Reps running are too scared of the Holy Rollers to make sense. The Dems are busy caving in to the Looney Left who think all we have to do is quit and the Arabs will all break out in a chorus of Kum-Bayah and sunbeams and lollypops will fall from the sky. We need a Lincoln, a Jefferson, or a Truman and all we get are a bunch of grinning soundbites in expensive suits (and pantsuits) who have no idea of what to do about the mess that won't make it worse.
Tell ya what, let's impeach The Yellow Baron and Deferment Dickie to show what we do to screw-ups and maybe the World will begin to listen to us again. Then we can work together to do things the right way in Iraq and Louisiana and everplace else where these clowns have made a mess that gets Americans killed.

I AM A SOLDIER SERVING IN IRAQ RIGHT NOW. and its a bit alarming your views, i can tell you are not military and you have never been here.
let me tell you a story, when we got to Iraq ten months ago we had to organize a convoy team. the command every day would ask us how ready we were to go outside the wire, we felt 70 percent sure, after another week 75%. but the point is we NEVER felt 100% comfortable going outside the wire. The Iraqis here will never feel comfortable taking over especially when we are doing the jobs for them. How much expierence do you have with Iraqis, like personally talking to them?
Do you realize that most of the Iraqi Police (IP) and Iraqi Army (IA) have already been infiltrated by insurgents anyways? Do you realize why Iraqi borders are so pourous because the IP is compromised, why Al Sadr can enter Iraq into Iran at his own will? Do you think I trust the IP at all, hell no!
This is not entirely your fault, no one in the USA had any idea of what is going on in Iraq. but honestly your question totally exhibits how so little you actually know about what is going on.
You thinking there will be a surge of terrorist attacks once we leave is simply wrong, Iraq is controlled by clans , all this violence you see is really tribal warfare, but its simpler for the news to say Sunni and Shiia,
but just to answer your question, Why are people so stupid on the war in Iraq? because of people like you who have never been to Iraq, have never vetted and interviewed local iraqis, have never walked down the streets and never gotten shot at or had mortars fall on top of you and only form your opinions from media. its not your fault but don't act like you know, because you don't

Were you alive during Vietnam? Do you remember the excuses for why we couldnt leave back then? Let me quote you a few.
"Theres light at the end of the tunnel. We're making progress!"
"We cant leave. If we leave all the dominos are going to fall and the entire region will go Communist!"
"Did I mention we're making progress?"
Same bullsh*t, different day. Iraq will not, I repeat WILL NOT be taken over by terrorists or whatever other nonsense people think. The vast majority of people in Iraq do not support Al-Queda. The Shiites dont like them, and only a tiny portion of Sunnis do. If we were to leave, Al-Queda would leave too, because without us there, they have no reason for being there. They sneak across the borders to do suicide attacks on our soldiers amid all the chaos of the civil war, if we leave they know full well the Iraqis will turn on them first and foremost, and they dont have a prayer in a country where most people are against them.
But thats not the important thing. The bottom line is this: 80% of Iraqis want us out of their country! And now over 60% feel its OK to kill American soldiers!! Its their country, and they have a right to do as they please with it!
We're now trying to force them to hand over their oil to foreign companies, and theyre pissed off! How the hell would we feel if some superpower marched into Texas and Alaska and started handing out the oil fields to foreign companies?? We'd be up in arms! And that would be perfectly justified!
We should get the hell out now. They want us out, its their country, we should get out. Not to mention that once we're out and all the other countries in the region dont feel as threatened by us anymore, we can bring them to the negociation table and try to end the civil war diplomatically. The Iranians have a huge influence on the Shiites, since they are a mostly Shiite country to whom many Iraqi Shiites look for guidance. The Saudis and the Syrians are both Sunni, and also wield a good amount of influence with in Iraq with the Iraqi Sunnis. The Kurds will be all too happy to come to the table, because theyve been ignored for years by the Iraqi government.
We've destroyed their infrastructure with our "shock and awe" nonsense, killed thousands of their people, and now we insist on staying there! The only way to end this is to get out, admit that it was a colossal mistake and do our best to help "fix" the situation.

Sure people will die if we pull out. They're also dying now. They will continue dying so long as we remain, trying to prop up that weak army and police force.
Whatever fight these people have to have, to work out who among them is going to run the area, they can either have that fight now or later.
The only difference is, later the US will have wasted that much more money, time and blood putting off the inevitable.
As for that surge of terrorist attacks worldwide, there is nothing stopping the world's population of wacky fanatics from going on such a spree right now if they want to. Both our borders are wide open, that's been demonstrated repeatedly.
And there is no magic ray in Iraq keeping the world's terrorists bottled up in there. If they congregate in the middle east, its because the middle east, their homeland, is what they're generally interested in, not the world.
It's the West's occupation of the middle east, its domination of middle east politics, that occaisionaly motivates these bomb throwing hobos to venture outside the region from time to time.
All this stems from the industrialized world's thirst for oil. This is what the blood is being spilled for. Freedom has nothing to do with it. Morality has nothing to do with it. Nor reason for that matter.
Oh yes, and no it doesn't matter whether the US ever gets one drop of its oil from the mideast.
Oil is a fungible commodity. The price of the oil the US uses is affected by events worldwide, whether the specific region involved is a direct supplier to the US or not.
Control of large regional reserves means a greater degree of control over the global price, of the global market as a whole.
This is what the US has overextended its military for. It is completely unnecessary, motivated entirely by the desire of a few to make money off the resource while they still can.

It's truly amazing how ignorant people are in the "information age". All they have to do is look at Afghanistan after the Soviets left to see what will happen if we leave Iraq.
Whether or not you were in favor of going in the first place is irrelevant. We are there, and if we leave now, it will be our fault when millions are massacred by terrorists and Iranians.
Besides, things in Iraq are pretty good. Anybody that thinks we're loosing is just blinded by irrational hatred. 95% of the country is safe and secure. It is NOT a civil war. It is terrorists being supplied by Iran that are the problem. Just look at who the targets are every day. Mostly it is innocent Iraqis in markets, and schools, and police stations.
The truth will set you free, but only if you have the courage to accept it.

You are 100 percent correct. I can't stand the people think that think pulling out will solve everything. Although the are currently civilian casualties if we leave there will be hundreds of more. These people forget that iraq was ruled by a state of fear under Hussein and now they are ruled under a democracy that is very young. Although this is a stretch we are trying to rebuild Iraq like we did Japan by occupying the country for several years and then gradually pulling out. We only hope that we are able to train enough Iraqi police officers to maintain stability in the country so we are able to protect the lives of innocent civilians.

Do you realize that we had no business in being there in the first place? Now you're right...if we do pull out, we are responsible for our f-up and of course it's going to result in problems. However...simply put Iraq is already in a state of civil war. There's nothing we can do to bring the US brand of democracy to Iraq...our form of government and theirs have absolutely no possibilty of being one. Thousands of people are going to die even if we stay there...that's the fact jack.
Another realization you must have is that all these so called terrorists in Iraq aren't Al-Qaeda members willing to attack the world at random. A large majority of them are "liberation fighters" who only joined in this fight to force the US out of their country. By removing Saddam Hussein, we opened up the gates of a Sunni vs. Shiite war the likes of something we were never expecting. The best thing we can do now is leave Iraq and let it take it's course. Vietnam pulled together after we evacuated under the banner of Communism and eventually adopted a free market reform and has a rapidly growing economy.

You've pretty much answered your own question. It's because the media isn't reporting what's really going on.
Personally, I'm not always sure that the rampant misreporting is malicious. I think reporters are just Category 4 idiots, meaning they not only don't know what they're reporting on, they don't even have a clue that they don't know.
That's why I don't bother with newspapers anymore. You can read them front to back and still not know anything you didn't know before you bought it.
