I often feel close to God in church. But that's not the end of it. I feel very close to God at the beach. I feel His presence in the mountains, and even while walking down city streets. I meditate upon God at cemeteries, art galleries, or at school. I love to watch the stars at night, and it can be a religious experience. Even small things, like seeing an elderly couple walking hand in hand, can make me feel close to God.

usually when there is some peace and quiet and i have time to either reflect on the day to come or reflect on the grace and humility i feel when looking at the night sky.
Knowing that the universe does not revolve around me....that its not all about me...but my actions and my purpose and what i can put into life...what i can do to make things better around me.
Thanx for a great question...it leads to an attitude of gratitude and that, my friend, is something that we all can use a little more of!
Blessed Be

The closest? I guess that would be in those "highs" and "lows" I pass through. Like when my children and grandchildren were born. How can anyone look at their new baby and not feel close to God. It's a time of wonder and awe. And then, when you have the greatest need for something.....for peace, for comfort, for healing, for will to live, etc...........who do you draw close to in those times? Only the Creator can reach inside you and provide what you need there. Those times in between the "highs" and "lows" we tend to take God for granted.

i felt closest to God after i watched the Passion of the Christ and after i went through a 30 Hour Famine. we raised money and didnt eat so starving people around the world could. it was a Christian funding thing. anyways.. during that, we did a lot of Bible study and singing and all that jazz and we had a 30 minutes sit with God and talk time. it might sound crazy to anyone who hasnt done it, but praying for 30 minutes is really cleansing. i really liked it and felt so happy afterwards. the time went by fast, and my faith became so strong after that weekend.

In the magnificence of all His creation ...

... the most intensely near the ocean ....

... on the sandy beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado ...

... gazing at the sunset sparkling on the waters of the Pacific ...

... listening to his voice whispering over the waves ...

God in all His Splendor ... what a beautiful experience!

I'd have to say looking into the night sky...what is more a more powerful and beautiful sight knowing that it is all a creation by the man himself. Also, having time out to meditate on things of god is a great way to feel close to him. I guess it's different for everyone!

Peace! :)

Is this the love of Jesus pouring out of you or what?

Does it really matter WHERE I feel the closest to God? He is always right there beside me: when it's nice out, when it rains, when I'm working, at play, being nice, or acting like a jerk. So, wether I feel close to God or not, He is always there.

although I find sitting outside on a clear night staring at the stars to be very very awe inspiring, I have to say that the closer my relationship with Jesus develops, the closer it is every minute. That's just it. I feel Him with me, closer than a brother or sister, every minute. It's getting uncanny really, but I love it.

blessings :)
