to the south: Bronx (NYC)
to the southwest: Bergen (NJ)
to the west: Rockland
to the northwest: Orange
to the north:Putnam (a very thin county; Dutchess is the next one north of that)
to the east: Fairfield (Connecticut)

In NY, the County south of Westchester is Bronx County (part of NYC) and to the North is Rockland & Orange Counties and further up are Dutchess and Sullivan.
