aren't they fundamentally the same?

wow Alex... what a level of thought! it took me a while to get a grip on that... good thinking!

I think the general thinking in all your answers is that zero is a constant.. well not really! Zero represents nothing, and 'nothing' is infinite in itself.

Alex got the logic right by his examples : 0=1=2=infinity
or 0=1=10=infinity...

but thanks... all your answers were very insightful.

If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear … as it is, infinite...Blake.

You liked that huh...Well, I learn from the best. Here's another goody!0!

As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality....Einstein.

Good luck!

I never thought about that until you asked it. However, after taking some time to think about it, I would have to agree with you. 0 is just 1/infinity. Since infinity is undefined, so is zero. They are both the same in that they are both undefined numbers. Also nothing is just as impossible as everything. If I try to imagine nothing, I always have some mental image. If I have no mental image then I would not be imagining! I think you have asked a very important question. Zero only exists in abstraction, as well as infinity, as well as any other number.

Infinity is zero's house. It has two rooms!0!

I believe the only difference is the spelling! Just kidding! In many respects yes they are the same, but they are also different. In that in infinity is never ending with substance, and zero goes on for ever without any value.

In another sense zero means nothing. And Infinity means everything. So in this case yes there is a difference and they are not the same.

0 = Infinity.
The cubic square root of Pie is infinity it never ends.
0 is the integer from which all values come from.
0 precedes all values. No value precedes 0.
0 is not nothing but the beginning of something which comes from nothing. Yet since something cannot come from nothing nothing does not exist hence 0 is infinitely nothing

Zero is a valueless place marker. Infinity is the constant continuation of value. Both only become real in Euclid's projective geometry, where we cannot always approach a number without eventually getting there. So, they are fundamentally the same in that they are both destinations. They are fundamentally different in that one has no direction and the other is omnidirectional.

zero is a constant amount, simply because there can be amounts less and greater than zero like -1 and 1.
while infinity is not a determined amount.

Both are mathematical constructs.

Zero is absence of any value. Infinity includes all values. Both are incomprehensible.

Zero is an absolute null value.
Infinity is an abstract concept.
