As far as I'm aware (feel free to point out otherwise), the bible does not say that there are aliens or extra-terrestrial life in outer space.

I'm fairly confident it would be a huge point of embarassment to theists if this were the case.

I know this is a very large axiom to build upon, but what would it mean to religion if aliens were discovered tomorrow?

What do you think the international religious response would be?

What would be awesome is if the intelligent life presented undeniable proof that it created life on earth. That would just be too sweet.

The Bible didn't say that there were aliens in the western hemisphere, when Pizzaro landed. They felt free to exploit anything, or anybody that wasn't in the book. I understand the curiosity about inteligent life on other worlds, and recognize the need for edible life on other worlds. But I hear an underlying question, who do we think we are?

Are we one world?

It would not pose a problem to the religious groups. They would just make up something new or try to find something in their religious writtings to say that they knew there was life on other planets.

The above would of course only relate to the hard core radicals of any religion. The Liberal / Moderates may begin to question and some may leave the faith and embrace reality. Which is we all evovled from lower life forms.

I don't understand why. The Bible doesn't say there are aliens, as far as I know it doesn't say there aren't any either.....I believe in God, and I believe that any God vast and powerful enough to create all this is certainly capable of expressing itself in other planets and dimensions as well......granted, I don't subscribe to the mainstream religions, maybe they have some other thoughts about it......

It would mean the God did not create this life form. So this would pose a problem. Its more of a problem for the Protestants, Baptists and Jehovahs because they tend to read the bible literally rather than symbolically. Catholics will get out of it and they probably already have a response prepared. Islam will go to war probably.

According to Gotama Buddha, there are 2^65 worlds out there with intelligence life.

...it doesn't say Chicago exists either, or will exist in the future...but yet it does....wow.

The point is, extra-terrestrial life wasn't really important at the time to the facts being discussed. So there wouldn't really be any embarrassment. At least, not in my religion.

It is extremely arrogant to think we are the only life in the universe.

Personally, I believe it is all the same God though. He was the big bang EVERYWHERE and evolution took over.

I expect that it is arrogant to think that we are the only ones out here...The universe is so huge it is likely that we are not the only life force out there.
