Are you sure it was a mosquito and not a spider of some kind? I would try to take some Benadryl or apply some type of cream to reduce the itchiness. Aloe may also work to help reduce the swelling a little bit. There is also a clear gel with bubbles called Rhuli gel which may help as well, if you can find it.

Here's the recommendation for chigger treatment from Dr. Lyon. I'd stop scratching if I were you, as it may inflame the area. I used to get them during Army field exercises. They did itch! "As soon as possible, take a good hot bath or shower and soap repeatedly. The chiggers may be dislodged, but you will still have the stylostomes, causing the severe itch. Scratching deep to remove stylostomes can cause secondary infections. For temporary relief of itching, apply ointments of benzocaine, hydrocortisone, calamine lotion, New Skin, After Bite, or others recommended by your pharmacist or medical doctor. Some use Vaseline, cold cream, baby oil, or fingernail polish. (The sooner the treatment, the better the results.) " Update: Chigger bites can be raised. It depends on how your body reacts, and how much scratching (irritation) you do. I hope the itching has gone down. If not, your family doctor can look at you and prescibe a topical cream.

Take a benadryl, that should help, but it may make you sleepy so take it before bed and not before your test.
