Most of you are idiots - you know who you are - to everyone else who answered thank you. Im going to bed now.

Atheism should be recognised the same way religions are recognised - we have no say in society - we have no rights - although we outnumber religious people 10 to 1. we should form a gang or something- these idiots run the world - atheists are a silent majority. lol, we should form a religion or something ! lol

That is one of the best questions you can ask about religion. Because of the logical path that question leads us through, it might be THE best question. For most us, which God is the real one depends on our religion.

And that's where the problems start . . . at least for the major Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). For the remainder of this reply, any mention of "religion" means "Abrahamic religion" for short.

Religion tries to lay claim to God. This insistence on exclusivity sets up religions for contention unless or until they convert the entire world – thereby eliminating the competition. This is why, I believe, these religions await the end-time when God will finally do the eliminating.

It's a forgone conclusion that no single religion (much less, denomination!) will win the world on its own. After all, they've had between 1,400 and 3,500 years (Islam and Judaism, respectively) to do so and haven't made any real progress. Christianity, with over 2 billion adherents, leads the pack but Islam, at 1.3 billion, is coming on strong (again). Despite being many centuries older than Christianity or Islam, Judaism has only 14 million adherents. If ANY religion truly is THE right one, I don't believe the competition would have survived this long.

Given all this . . . how are we supposed to decide which religion, if any, is right? The first one? The biggest one? The most sophisticated one? The most realistic one? The competition reduces our choice to a roll of the dice. With no way to know, why would we go to hell for choosing the wrong one? It's ridiculous. Can God really be so sadistic? And if so, why would you worship him?

No . . .

NO religion can be valid if God exists AND is good. Any entity who could create the universe, would not be so petty as to set up his "intelligent" beings for condemnation. Why would the Creator give us free choice, only to confuse the choice of Creator? I say that if God exists, ALL religions are heretical. If God is good, we wouldn't be killing each other in His name. In the paraphrased words of Stephen Roberts:

"I contend that we are both anti-religion. I just believe in one fewer religion than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible religions, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

Oh yes . . . and forget about "Original Sin" . . . I am no more responsible for Eve than I am for Hillary Clinton or for you.

I believe God could, or might, exist; but I'm certain that NO religion is valid.

Belief in God (or gods) is a matter of faith and can't be proved or disproved. But just because there is a confusing array of deities does not mean I refute them all (atheism) but instead, I allow for any/all of them to be true because we can never KNOW (agnostic). But it IS possible there is no God... I simply can't say for sure.

I think that ALL scriptures are tainted by the hand and mind of man, whether it be when they were recorded, or when they have been translated.

So you need to study many of them before you decide on one, or you can simply pick and choose the practices you like from all. For example, being kind to your neighbor is always a good one to start with. If everyone did that, the world would not be as screwed up as it is!

Good luck figuring it out.

P.S. The Christian, Muslim & Judaic God are one and the same. Those are called the "Abrahamic religions" because they share many of the same characters.

The real one is the one you go to with an empty head and an open heart and He does everything for you to put your Life on track. The real one is the one who enabled me to quit alcohol over twenty years ago so I could write you this answer this evening. The real one is the one who you know is listening and from Whom you find your life taking direction. Until you have heard that real one speak to you directly, all of it is descriptions in languages and lots of words. Best to you, always, Chris!

Why are you even contacting or putting questions on this group if you don't believe in any God? It doesn't make
any sense. If you don't believe in God why even bother? From your response you seem very angry about the whole thing. You have a choice and you choose not to believe, That is your prerogative. I believe in God and live in hope. I don't hate you for your beliefs so why should you hate me?

Which ever you decide to believe in.

It's not about right and wrong it's about personal belief.

I myself choose not to believe and agree with the good teachings in any religion on how to live a happier life and co-exist with the rest of humanity peacefully.

A GOD IS A PERFECT BEING THAT MUST BE CAPABLE OF ALL THINGS, HAS NO DEFICIENCIES OR WEAKNESSES WHATSOEVER I.E. NEED TO EAT OR DRINK, ETC. THEREFORE I ADVICE YOU 2 LEARN ABOUT EACH OF THE GODS TALKED ABOUT IN THE RELIGIONS WHICH U MENTIONED IN YOUR QUESTION.......LEARN FROM THEIR ACTUAL BOOKS, BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE MIGHT LIE OR DECIEVE U......start by learning about Allaah first because He seems 2 be the ultimate being and the only 1 deserved and worthy of worship...

"We are all part of the One Spirit. When you experience the true meaning of religion, which is to know God, you will realize that He is your Self, and that He exists equally and impartially in all beings."

The Creator, and though lots of religions refer to him or even say he is their god, take no notice of them. they are just quoting dogma and tradition.
I know, I have a one to one relationship with him and I don't need any holy book, church or religion to do it.
