I have never made Beer, but, know people who do.
I will say, you need to really research this. Many things you may be able to make from around the house. Some ingredients you can buy at a grocery store. One guy I know makes pretty good beer and he says most stuff he gets from the grocery store. I not know the recipe, but, search the Inet for some that seem easy.
Wine I make in a 5 gallon plastic bucket. Strain it through some pantyhose or cheese cloth.
I never made "Corn Squeezings", but, it too can be easy from what I know.
Really do some study first. Maybe go to the public library and read some free books. I just not want to see a person spend more than they need to if they have some cool brew equipment around the house doing nothing.

A Mister Beer kit is a terrible kit. So the a Beer Machine.

Look up on http://www.beertown.org where the nearest homebrew shops are in your area. They will set you up with a proper system. If there is a homenrew club in your area, beertown can tell you about it. Attend a club meeting and get tips from them.

Again, Mister Beer is not a good system.

like aq still or just like legal beer because you can make a still out of an old williams oil tank and about 20 feet of coiled copper wire and a 8 gallon jug.
