Wouldn't a more appropriate question be how many hospitals are writing off bills of illegal immigrants, and how much of our tax dollars are going to pay these bills? Before a hospital closes for such reasons, it will exhaust every avenue it has in government reimbursement. Right now, the Mexican government is even funding programs in the U.S. to help illegal aliens find FREE U.S. FUNDED healthcare!! There are enough American-born people not paying their own way than to invite more over for hand outs. No one is chipping in on my medical bills, much less paying them in full. These U.S. hospitals aren't closing because our taxes are footing the unpaid bills!!

How many U.S. hospitals have closed it's door because of unpaid bills from uninsured American citizens? A majority of illegal immigrants (note I said a majority, not all) won't even go to the doctor for treatment of illnesses and other issues. How many American citizens go to the doctor because they don't have health insurance and they can't afford health insurance, or they can't afford to go to the doctors office, or to get a MRI, or some other expensive test done, yet know they can go to the hospital and get it done, and not have to pay it all up front. Sure there are immigrants - legal, illegal, and citizens as well who use the hospital because they don't have health insurance, and can't afford it.

I would like to know the stats on this issue also. I know that one where I grew up closed and two where I used to live not too many years ago changed from private to public because they were making money off the gov instead of working people's insurance. They are both ghetto-like now and at any given moment, you could yell "la migra" and see 3/4 of them run out. I can't even get seen there in an emergency because they are so crowded with illegals that can't speak English. I am forced to drive much further for my own legal family. grrrrr

Before you complain that I don't know if they are illegal, I have lived in California for almost 40yrs, grew up with illegals in my schools, and heard Mexican-Americans explain the difference between wet-back wall-holders and legal Hispanics. I thought more along the lines of the usual blanket lines that a Mexican was a Mexican, but that changed when I encountered the newly arrived illegals in school and at play.

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Ronald Reagan The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality. They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class. The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy @

0, because tax payers make up for the unpaid bills with more money which keeps them running, also increases basic medical expenses and medical insurance. If your asking will they turn away illegal immigrants; yes they can, many don't though.
