i was in my room, sitting on my bed, with my fox terrier/chihuahua mix and my pit bull. i saw something funny out of the corner of my eye, and so i bent down to look at what it was, and out of nowhere my fox terrier attacked me. he was growling and attacking my head and then, suddenly he was done and he acted like nothing happened.

I lean towards Anna's answer but one never knows. I have a German Shepherd Dog that was outside with me and the solar system installers for hours without a problem. Then one dropped a tool and bent over to pick it up. She immediately charged aiming at his butt. A quick "No! Down!" ended that but I still wonder why (perhaps a bent over but is just too good to turn down ?).

Although another answer was that Fox Terriers like to hunt they do not usually hunt hair, but if your hair is long and you moved it quickly then they may have thought it was a toy or some other form of entertainment. If your dog is a Toy Fox Terrier cross though it may be subject to the general Toy dog temperament of "don't bother me" as many Chihuahuas are, and possibly you startled your dog who then gave you his opinion at being disturbed. You don't say how old your dog is but if young then they are easily excited and if old they can over-react due to loss of sight and / or hearing. It sounds like your dog remembered his manners though and now doesn't want to talk about it ANY more! But consult a trainer if your dogs does it again so that the real problem can be identified.

Could be whatever is was that you saw out of the corner of your eye, he/she saw too and was trying to protect you by chasing you away from it?
I have 2 fox terriers and they will sometimes try to take charge and chase the other away from what they precieve as a threat. They've never done it to me but I guess it's a possiblity.

According to Wikipedia, Fox terriers are meant to hunt, so maybe the dog mistakened you for something and then when you bent down he attacked you b/c he didn't recognize you at first. I don't know if that is much help to you though.
'Hope you find out the answer soon!

There are a lot of reasons why that may have happened. For example, you may have surprised him when you suddenly bent your head down. Was there food anywhere near by? Perhaps he was being territorial of food or something else that he feels "belongs" to him.

It might be that they thought you were a stranger, and they just went on their in-sticks and attacked...
