I personally don't know how old the earth is and I'll wager a guess that no one really knows the age of this planet. How can anyone argue about things that no one knows? Regardless of the age of this world I believe in God.

What schools? Where is this being exclusively taught? If it's private school, then that's a parent's right. Teaching it at home is also parental right.
Being 6000 years old is still debated in the scientific community. I'm including all scientists when making that statement. It's only within the last 100-150 years or so that the earth has aged as much as it has - in evolution terms. That's only because evolution needs more time to explain why we don't see it working. Nothing like pushing out the time frame to justify your theory. But to each their own.

The world is probably 5 or 6 billion years old. And it came from nothing.....isn't that something?! Humankind as we know it has been around for about 6 thousand years, although scientists will tell you it could be about 60 thousand years. Whatever time frame you want to take, it is a scientific fact that we are all genetically originated from one man. Even science has a hard time disproving God.

Well...ummm... I dont do this yahoo answers thing a lot, but im bored at work and stumbled on this one..... my questions to all of you (christian or not) is, who created the dinosaurs? The Bible has absolutely NO mention of the dinosaurs, furthermore, were they included on Noah's Ark? Obviously, we have proof that dinosaurs existed waaaaaayyyy back in the day but who created them? and dont try to tell me that it was the same day as the rest of the animals were created because thats bullshit... UNLESS of course the rest of the animals EVOLVED into what they are today... could it be that somehow God created creatures and even people that all overtime thousands of years just happened to evolve into the types of beings we are familar with today? See but we have no way of knowing for sure, which makes the whole debate never ending........................

I went to a catholic School and we were never taught that. Also I think you need to calm down and stop with the insulting tone. Rudeness will only get people peed off at you and you’ll get an in box full of insults plus I think it’s mostly Christians in the US that are pushing it and it’s not something all of us believe in my Grandmother a devote Catholic certainly don’t nor do I.

I don't think the world is 6000 years old.
I am against teaching that in schools.
I do know what I am talking about, unlike you.
You make too many assumptions.

Perhaps you should go talk to a Astral Physicist and he can explain to you about the parallel universes and the different time space continuum's. Or don't you accept science either?
Not all Christians think the world is this old, it is possible but then again it could be six million, I don't know and you don't know and no one else knows either.

The Bible is a book of faith and not science. Especially when it starts out "In the beginning God". Right away you know it is not about science but about a higher being than man that is supernatural and extraordinary. But this God is interested in man so much that he prepared a special place for him to live in his universe.
God created the universe, the earth, man and all the creatures in it. But this is the Bible's version of it. Not a science book is it?
My belief is simple. My God who is so intelligent that he would know what millions of years in a universe would look like. Even ones that included the dinosaurs. God can create that all in one day if necessary, but he did it in six days.
Is my logic and faith scientific or confirmed by science? Of course not. But by faith I believe God made it so.

There is no scientific evidence that confirms anything on this earth being over about 5500 years. All dates over 5500 years are in serious dispute. This is where evolution does not have a leg to stand on-dates.
I'll bet you don't even know how dinosaur bones are dated. Most people who believe in evolution don't either-they just believe what they are told.

What? Not all Christians believe that the Earth is 6000 years old. Personally, I'm a Christian, and I don't KNOW how old the Earth is...but it's irrelevant. That's right, irrelevant. I believe that God created the universe, the Earth, and life itself. I don't CARE when He did it!
And for the record, I believe religion belongs at home, not at school.
