If you take the 'Genesis' version, which was just a transliteration of old Sumerian histories, like the epic of Gilgamesh, from which the Noah's Ark story was cobbled, it was originally Ziusudra or Utnapishtim ( in Babylonian
texts ), then no, there was no mention of rain, in fact Genesis 2 : 5 specifically states that 'God' sent no rain but there were rivers, Pishon, Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates, it is interesting that the last two still exist unchanged today, two of the most famous rivers in the world, and still the centre of much 'activity'.

You are right. I was thinking about this very topic today. But what it does say in the bible is that at night, God caused a MIST to come up and water the ground in the garden of Eden. Not rain. And there is a Hebrew word for rain: Genesis 2:5 & 6 states, "And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not yet caused it to rain upon the earth (Strongs #4305 = "ma tawr" - to rain, to cause to rain) and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered (literally "quaffed" or "irrigated") the whole face of the ground." Another thing is that many christian scientists believe that the earth prior to Noah's flood was covered by an ice or water canopy, and that a catastrophe, like an asteroid struck the canopy causing the rains to fall and the earth to tilt on its axis. Even non-christian scientists concur that the earth appears to be tilted on its side. That would explain and fully agree with what Genesis 2:5 and 6 says here without contradicting it, and fully explains how plants and animals and mankind survived until the first rains occurred.

That was why the people in the Bible LAUGHED when Noah said that God told him that water would come down from the sky. There was a shift in the earth's axis and this caused a drastic weather change. Before the earth was covered in lovely, lush foliage and it was watered from a kind of heavy dew. The earth was basically in a 'steam bath.' More like the tropical forests are now.
As to evidence of a flood...just go down the strata of soil ANYWHERE, WHY would there be fossilized remains of aquatic life in an area where no water is found?

It does say that water came up from the ground. The rains fell after that, if I am not mistaken.
To the one who says no rain means no life is wrong - no water means no life. Water was there.
Geological evidence shows how the water table underground went out fast, allowing plates to slide up into wedge-shaped mountains.
The recession of the flood is responsible for the Ice Age (not the animated movie, the actual frozen time on earth).
Dr. Dino, as he is nicknamed (try a Google on that), has good explanations concerning the Flood and other Biblical events proven by paleontologists and archaeologists.

(Genesis 2:5) Now there was as yet no bush of the field found in the earth and no vegetation of the field was as yet sprouting, because Jehovah God had not made it rain upon the earth and there was no man to cultivate the ground.
(Genesis 2:6) But a mist would go up from the earth and it watered the entire surface of the ground.
(Genesis 7:4) For in just seven days more I am making it rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will wipe every existing thing that I have made off the surface of the ground.”
This is the very first mention of rain, as we know it, in the Bible.

Yes there was rain before Noah. No rain means no life on earth. Period.
I got up and left the last time I heard a preacher go into this. Here's the funny thing, in seminary school they don't buy into that. But they preach to fill seats not to inform. For example many churches preach that you die and then go to heaven. But that's bunk. You die and wait until judgment day before coming back until then there's only oblivion. But that view doesn't always fill seats. If you have questions go read the Bible yourself.

Here's something else that was different before the flood. Before the flood there were two atmospheres of pressure, after, only one.

Yeah, some folks believe that, but I don't. Rain is needed for plants to grow.
