for most people 32-bit, 64-bit is only an advantage if you're running 64-bit software (and few people do, so....).

The 32 bit version of Vista is best as there are few 64 bit programs and drivers.
The 32 bit Vista only supports 4 GB RAM (actually about 3.5GB) ; 64 bit Vista supports 128 GB+ RAM. Programs written for 64 bit run faster than 32 bit programs.
In 2 or 3 years the 32 bit system will be begin to become obsolete. By then most computers will ship with more than 4 GB RAM and to access more than 4GB RAM will require a 64 bit operating system.

Any 64 bit system is going to be better than a 32 bit. There is not a great deal of 64 bit compliant software yet, but what there is will work much faster and there will soon be more available.

i'm running 64 bit version, and my buddy runs the 32 bit version, and the difference is that the 64 bit's virtual 32 bit environment runs a lot more software without trouble than the 32 bit version does.
