Good question. They do seem to be driven by hatred of anything and everything different than they are. Not very Christ like for sure.

That's true, we are more defined by what we will not do than what we will do. That sort of fits in with the definition of sin, which is something people do. We are not sinless, but we are against sin. We press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Sin is missing the mark, and Christians don't always hit the target.

True, and as a Catholic I would be derelict in my duty if I fail to add that they absolutely hate Catholics with a truly rabid intensity. Everything about them is negative ideation. That's why we Catholics consider them a good example of what happens when people start creating their own little do-it-yourself denominations and ignoring the discipline of conciliar leadership. They are hateful, too, not just hate-filled. That's why it offends mainstream Christians when R&S's post questions acting like these people are the legitimate representatives of All Christians Everywhere; hey - they represent themselves, period. They don't speak for Catholics,or Episcopalians,or Lutherans,or Presbyterians or Unitarians. They're off on their own little weirdie trip and the worst of it is,because they are so bizarre, the media loves them - they make good copy. So people without a religious upbringing make assumptions about Christianity based on what they see in the media about fundies.

I am a Fundamental Christian and I don't hate anybody. You probably know some people who are like this so you assume all Christians are hateful. A fundamental Christian is one who believes in Christ and the teachings of the Bible. All of this teaches love and walking humbly before God. I am not depressed and I live a wonderful life with my husband, and 2 dogs by the lake.

Sin goes against their belief. It is the direct opposite of perfection to them. It's the one thing they are to hate. Unfortunately too many fundies confuse hating the sin with actually hating the person committing the sin.

they know they are dumb?
Its impossible for me to believe that fundamentalists are actually serious on anything they are saying!.. So just to continue on a path of lies, misconceptions and deceit has to weight heavily on their life. So they are releasing so much of that negative energy by lashing out in hate!

What's happened is the conformity and growing into holiness. To be transformed into the likeness of Jesus. Thus saith the LORD "Be Holy, for I AM HOLY."
Jesus says "If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first, because I say that the works of the world are evil."

It isn't surprising that people who consider a God who drowned, tortured, and slaughtered millions, plus had his own son beaten and executed, to be "good" and "loving" would be so focused on hate.

I take it you don't know any real fundamentalists.
Check my answers, I don't live my life defined by hate ... but by love.
