I changed from the generic to my current avatar (a long time ago).I will Just stay with the one I have.

I like your avatar. I think it would not change things if you changed it.
I think no one would notice a thing if I changed the hairstyle or something like that.

You can change it temporarily, but you should go back to 'ol faithful once the urge has subsided. Once you are known by your avatar, it's hard for people to forget who you are.
