overall weight (fat) loss - we cant spot reduce body fat
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

It would be in the best interest of your health to lose some weight. Start by watching your diet - eat less sugar and sweets (candy, soda, etc.) and avoid fried or other fatty or "junk" foods. Eat less of stuff you know isn't good for you. Weight loss is acheived best by diet and exercise. Look at your lifestyle and try to be a little more active. Start taking walks, don't use the elevators use the stairs, that kind of thing. Just be more active than you are right now. There isn't a hidden secret to losing weight, it just takes a consistent effort.

Try toning your arms with 2-5 lb weights daily. In the meantime, AVOID food that contains hydrogenated oils (fried fast foods, etc.), high-fructose corn syrup (most, but not all sodas contain this, etc), and enriched flour . Just check the food label in the 'ingredients' part. America is the only country that has these ingredients which are literally fattening the people. Not only do they cause obesity, these ingredients are also a big contributer to many diseases such as cancer, stroke, heart disease, sclerosis (just to name a few). All other countries have banned these products from their food. I personally eat organic food, which is just food without these ingredients and organic food is grown/processed without chemicals and artificial ingredients. If you want more information, all you have to do is type in hydrogenated oil or high fructose corn syrup in google and loads of information will come up. Hope this helps ;-)

Well, first of all, you REALLY need to lose weight. I'm 5'4" and when I started my diet, I was your weight--it is VERY unhealthy, despite what confidence you may or may not have. I did not look "fat" per se, but I do have a belly (that is disappearing now) and I had the arms, et cetera. Trust me when I say you would be so much happier losing all of it, and it is NOT impossible. It takes some time, and commitment, but you will be so much happier in the long run.

First of all, you will not lose the fat around your arms without losing body fat over all. That requires dieting and exercise, like it or not. That was one of the cruel truths I learned when I first started too because I was seriously hating my triceps (the stuff that jiggles on the bottom when you lift your arm and shake). I've been taking adipex to help me get rid of it, which is a perscription. If you want to try that, I would suggest it, but you would need to see an endocrinologist most likely to get it. It's temporary, for the most part (they don't want you to be dependent, though I've never depended on it more than for the sake of habit--and I still forget some days). It's an appetite suppressant, so you usually get full really quick, or just aren't hungry at all. You learn to eat smaller portions. You HAVE to exercise on it, however, and your endocrinologist will likely tell you what to eat/etc, and how to get a work out routine started.

I hate cardio--it's the worst part of going to the gym for me--but I'm learning to like it. If you want to do something that's not so bad, try an elliptical when you go to the gym (or join one so you can). It's not as boring as a treadmill and it's easier on the knees--PLUS, it burns more calories than anything else you'll do. Lift weights of all kinds, for your legs, arms, shoulders, back, and do stuff that will help your belly, like ab machines. Right now, I'm at 170, and I look MUCH better. I promise, you will be so much happier if you just trust me on this. But, like I said, you CANNOT focus on one part of your body for weight loss. It will NOT work. Work out as you may, but focusing on your arms will mean you build muscle beneath the fat--not helping. Cardio work-outs (such as the elliptical, running, biking, swimming) help you lose much more weight and body mass, and you'll notice your arms shrink as you go.

Right now, you're at a very unhealthy weight. I am too, to be frank, but once you get started, and you stop whining? You start to like your diet as a new part of your lifestyle. I look forward to going to my gym, albeit the fifteen minutes I spend on the elliptical. At your height, the normal weight would be between around 115 lbs to 130 lbs (AT MOST).

The reason many diets do not work out is because people will not move. Exercise AND dieting are the only way to see real progress, and if you want the fastest of them all, this is it. If you want to live to see your boys grow up to be men, married with kids of their own, you should start now.

Quite the rant, I know, but you should really trust me on this. I did the research, talked to doctors and trainers, and this is what they told me--and it's true, since I'm living proof.

I hope this helps. :)
