Well, The xian god is supposed to be all powerful, so he could be. But he isn't because he chooses not to. Thats why he gave free will to humans, but he is also omniscient, he is supposed to be all knowing. That means he(?) already know what all your choices are going to be.
So, even though you are free to do what you will, god already knows your choice, so you aren't really free. So, yes, I guess he would be in total control. This however presents one evil bastard of a god, look at the world and saying that god is in total control means he's a sick mofo.
He is also supposed to be all loving. (omnibenevolent)

God gives us free will. To choose as we feel. He also gives us every means to come to Him.
If you ever desire to read more historical evidence on what was taught on this outside of scriptures, read Justin Martyr, circa 130 AD.
He says that God gives us free will. God does not give us a fate. That was heretical and something he was arguing against.
God controls everything AFTER we have had our time on earth to decide and we go to the next life. At judgement.

No you are in total control of your life. God is only there to listen and give you answers. Destiny is set by you.

no because that would negate freewill....all souls have freewill including the created beings such as angels, jesus etc....if God "knew everything" why would he create a being with freewill that would become evil ala satan who was created perfect until by his own freewill he became evil? God only controls his will which is to say prophecy and what relates to prophecy and the fulfillment of it...anything is freewill and he don't know that lest it wouldn't be freewill would it? get it?

God gave us all freewill but it is like us we teach our children how to do things on their own but when they are small we usually correct them for the best outcome....we are all small in God's eyes so he takes what is done in evil and works it out to the best of mankind

If you believe in the God of the Bible, he has absolute authority. It's a bit different.
