My dog woke up yesterday with yellow eye bugers & was acting a little sluggish (not quite himself) & now the left side of his neck, right under the jawline is very swollen (almost baseball size) and is just laying around & wont eat. I called & made an appointment at the vet for tommorrow, but i am very worried. Could it just be an infection needing antibiotics or could it be a gland issue, tumor? then i started thinking that we had KFC chicken sat night, could he have gotten ahold of a bone? he is also coughing & weezing a little. im afraid he wont last till tommorrow. we have no emergency vet within several hours from here. please help...

Your dog needs veterinary care now, not tomorrow.

It could be very serious such as Distemper, Lymphosarcoma or an infection or a mild problem like kennel cough. Do none of the local vets do emergencies? It might be a good idea to phone around. Did you take his temperature? That would be a better indication of how serious it might be. You can try giving him honey for energy.

Is he an outside dog? Are you in a warm climate that has snakes? Completely inspect the dog's neck for any puncture wounds. A common problem where we live is copperhead snake biting dogs. Either way, you need to contact every vet around you and get him there. Most vets have 24 hour call.

Just watch him very closely tonight. I don't think this would be caused from a chicken bone. It sounds like he is sick if he he has eye buggers, swollen gland, and wheezing. Just make sure he is still breathing throughout the night and get him to the vet first thing tomorrow morning. Hope this helps!

Try to call around and see if you can fin a vet that is open and cancheck your dog.
if it were me I wouldn't wait I would be driving how many hours to teh vets.
For something to get that big that fast it could grow overnight and enmd up blocking the airway tehnm you wouldn't have time to get that far.
Better to be safe.
I hope it ends up being just an infection or something simple but I sure wouldn't wait.

He needs to see a Vet NOW.

It could be any of the things you mentioned & it could be an abcessed tooth. There are too many things that it could be & some of them may be fatal.

You might even consider calling your Vet at home & explain what is going on & see if he will meet you at the clinic.
