Just about 40 minutes ago I had just got comfortable on my couch after a sweaty, hot hard day of work and the nex thing I knew 5 gun shots were fired by someone in a car. By the time I looked out the window the car was out of sight and all the neighbors were on their porches wondering what had just happened. I live in Gainesville, Georgia, Hall county. This is not the first time a peace officer has been called and not shown up. My neighborhood is 90% hispanic, although I have been here for 11 years, and my landlord has been in the house {duplex he owns] for 50 years, he is 88. He is the one that called, and they still treat it as nothing, what would you do about the sorry police dept. I beleive that the police depts are the ones who turn a town into gang related war zones when they do not respond to serious calls such as this. We have hispancic cops that can ask questions of my neighbors, why are they taking this so lightly. I am so dissapointed by these no good cops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it seems this is how things are handled now adays with our police force...they wont do anything about it until something bad happens, then they will claim they were doing their job to the best of their abilities...and for some reason thats always a good enough answer
it makes me angry but theres not a thing in the world i can do about it
what i also think is unfair is that the cops will wait hours to respond to a brake in or a stolen car report but if someone calls and says there are kids hanging out in the woods they are at the scene in 5 minutes
its like they would rather put as much people in jail as they can so it means less spaces to fill and they decide its easier to catch a group of scared kids in the woods then to risk their precious crisp suits and freshly combed toupes in a high speed pursuit.

Have heard this before.
1. Area has high rate of shots fired.
2. No description of who is doing this by reporting individual.
3. No one is hurt.
4. No property damaged.
5. Police come and can do nothing. See #2
6. This continues to happen frequently.
7. Police act like the villagers in the "boy that cried wolf" story.

Call and ask to speak to the Watch Commander, preferably during the time of day when the shooting took place.
Tell him what happened, and ask him to explain why there was no response. Either he'll explain it in a way that helps build your confidence, or he'll try to wriggle out of it, and you'll know you need to move up the chain of command.
Sometimes the police are overwhelmed. Sometimes the shots sounded like your street, but were one street over, and the police responded there. Maybe there's a good reason, maybe not.
Give it a shot. Most police really do want to help, and your being an active citizen can make that easier.

Its the sad world we live in these days. My advice would be to find out what you could do to report them. Or go around them and tell someone. Also, u could write an article maybe publish it in the newspaper. or better yet, become active in city council meetings. tell them that ur dissapointed witth law enforcement and make change. there are always ways to make a change. the question is how far are u willing to go? and are u willing to do what it takes? Remember..."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" U are good "men". Go do something.

Call and ask to speak to the watch commander.....there are many reasons you may not have gotten a response.... including the fact that responding units may have encountered the vehicle en route to your street....try to get a little more info before blaming the sorry no good people that risk their lives everyday to be there when you are in trouble.

I think you need to call Captain Frank Hooper and let him know what happened. He is a good, Christian man and I'm sure he would like to know that his cops aren't doing their duty. I would look up his number for you, but I'm sure you could just call the police station and ask for him.

Contact a local newspaper or a local TV station. They love stories like this. They'll investigate and if it's true, they'll make a big deal out of it and make the cops to change the way they operate.

Ehh...it has happened to my block many times, not many people call the cops because they will never show up. The cops don't bother coming because it is to dangerous or whatever. So why did you have to include the Hispanic part?

It sounds like you should go to the next community meeting, and also request a meeting with your Mayor. If it is as bad as you say it is, you may also want to talk to the media
Someone has to start the ball rolling.
