What keeps the young from being more spiritual? Is it the need for fun?

I know many very devoted young Christians.

The older you get, the wiser you get and you realize that there is more to the world than whet can be explained in a science book. It takes years of seeking the answers to the meaning of life before you can become strong in your faith.

The longer you are a Christian the stronger your faith becomes. Young people are not taught the Bible like they were taught 50, 60, years ago. There are alot more divorces, alot more drug abuse, alot more Churches that are not teaching the gospels anymore, they are filled with rules, religions, and false teachers, claiming to be preachers, and men of God. But they are not they are leading people straight to Hell, with all of there false teaching and self help cell groups. Non of that is in the Bible. They are not concerned about saving souls and leading people to Christ, They are after the mighty dollars...........thats all. They are telling people what they want to hear, what ever it takes to keep them coming back and putting there hard earned money in the plate and making the so called preacher a little fatter, and Hell a little fuller. Its such a shame, that people can't see this is not of God. They won't open the Bible and see for themselves. If the parents don't see it, then the kids are not taught it either.

The Christian walk is a big influence; older Christians should be further along then younger one.

The second big reason: Depends on the church. Young people can find more traditional churches dull but if you go to an event like Melbourne (Australia's) Planetshakers conference you'll get a WHOLE different experience of the faith of young people.

PS Check out Sydney's Hillsong or Alidade’s History Makers events!

The old don't necessarily have more faith than the younger Christian, but they tend to have more faith because they believed in it longer and they've seen God at work and they know that God can do anything if they're still Christians after a long time.

I think in general older people have a stronger sense of "self' and they are more firm in their beliefs.
However I have seen MANY young Christians with ten times more faith then any older people I have met. They are strong, knowledgeable and passionate for God...it's truly great to see :)

Nope, unawareness of mortality, old people in general have more of a need to be prepared spiritually for the next leg of the journey. While the young have more important things to worry about, or so they think.

Age has nothing to do with faith.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for
the evidence of things not yet seen.

I dont nessisarly thing the old have stronger faith at all.
Just more knowladge maybe.
besides age dosent have anything to do with when you get saved. a 80 year old could get saved and they might not know that much and not have that much faith but a 8th grader who just got saved might have alot of faith to see the same thing in his family. Hed be the one to see them.

I'm young...just graduated from a college where we had a Christian organization of over 2000 members. I know SO many young people who are giving their lives to Christ by doing missions, going to school to be preachers and teachers...all sorts of stuff. I do think that many young people won't go to church now because they don't enjoy the traditional churches.

Their senses are more intense and reactive,so the young put a lot of emphasis on sense gratification. Older people have lived that out, plus their bodies no longer support that much avenue for sense gratification and they tend to turn inward. Also, questions of mortality preoccupy them more. Then the longer you live the more suffering you've seen or experienced, and that deepens you also. Young people are often too shallow in terms of life experience for real religiosity - though they may still be religious by nature as individuals,or merely observant.

Just years of trusting God. The young aren't spiritually mature in their walk...the old on the other hand are. May the force be with you
