Whatever you do, don't continue to use floride toothpaste. Floride toothe paste that you use every day may contain toxins that have been linked to cancer, blindness, and even death. Have you checked out the ingredients in your toothpaste or mouthwash lately?
Check out this article about toothpaste: http://www.oramd.com/hiddendangers.htm

You may want to try oramd... It worked for my bleeding gums and many of my family and friends love it! =)

Bleeding and/or receding gums indicate gum disease. Brush with a fluoride toothpaste after each meal (or twice a day--once in the morning & once before bed), floss at least twice a day, and if desired, try some Listerine (mint flavor's good) to kill bacteria in your mouth. If your teeth hurt, try Sensodyne toothpaste, which takes care of sensitive mouth issues (works great!!).

Definitely see a dentist for this!! Gum disease can also indicate other health problems in your body! (I do think the purple gums show something is wrong.)

Good luck.

If you bleed when you brush your teeth, you have a gum problem. Floss vigorously and get a water pick. Your dentist can check out your gums and put a periochip in to kill the bacteria and restore your gums without surgery. My dentist did that for me and then I didn't need surgery. It was a lot cheaper, too

Perio Chip

PerioChip is a small, orange brown, rectangular chip (round at one end) for insertion into periodontal pocket.

The active ingredient of PerioChip is Chlorhexidine, a gold standard broad – spectrum antimicrobial agent. Each chip contains 2.5 mg chlorhxidine.

PerioChip is indicated as an adjunct to scaling and root planing procedures for reduction of pocket depth in patients with chronic preiodontitis. PerioChip should be inserted in pockets, 5-8mm in depth. After insertion into the pocket, PerioChip demonstrates a sustained release of chlorhexidine over a period of up to 7-10 days. After that period the PeriChip biodegrades and disappear. The chlorhexidine released from the Periochip have been shown to suppress pocket flora till up to 11 weeks.

Major signs of Gingavitus. Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease, which can be treated and reversed if diagnosed early. The signs and symptoms are red, swollen and puffy gums that bleed easily. If treatment is not received, gingivitis could progress into periodontitis, an advanced and more serious stage of gum disease which includes bone loss and is not reversible.

I would agree with carlover... Be careful about using toothpaste when you have gingivitis or bleeding gums. Also don't use mouthwash or any other alcohol based product to rinse or cleanse your mouth. I have heard some good things about oramd, you might give them a try. I think I saw their product in health & wellness a couple of years ago, and they received great reviews from their testers.

I lost a old dog to Cushing's a year ago. Now we have another dog has it. We know what we are dealing with, she is in her last stage. All the treatments doesn't help them. Just makes it hard on the poor old dog. There are a few breeds that get's Cushing's Yorkie's are one of them. And we have 4 Yorkie's! The 1st dog we lost wasn't a Yorkie. All you can do is keep them on pain pills because they suffer with Cushing's till they die. My dog had Cushing's for about 4 years before my vet ran a test on him. By then it was too late he was in his last stage of Cushing's. It's not easy seeing your dog suffer and can't do anything to help the poor dog.

You should floss every day, brush after eating, or at least twice a day, and have your teeth cleaned professionally twice a year.
