WTF! It really, i mean REALLY, pisses me off when you are being accused of racism because you oppose to illegal immigration. Now, lets consider leftist logic. A person regardless of the color of his/her skin illegally crosses a border without obtaining proper documentation to stay in the country lawfully. Since majority of illegals are Mexicans, leftists assume that opposition to illegal immigration is caused by racial prejudice against Mexicans. Now, how retarded a person must be in order to make such a conclusion? I mean, hello, it's not a race issue, it's about entering the country illegally. When will leftist bigots learn to think logically??

Absolutely NOT.

People who say it's racist to want secure borders are insulting the intelligence of the American people, and such charges betray an empty arsenal of serious arguments. No wonder the immigration reform movement is gaining on every front.

Last year in Los Angeles County, more than 30,000 criminal aliens who served jail sentences were released back into the community instead of being deported. What is the justification for this absurdity? Who will speak for the future victims of these criminals? Who dares call it racist to want these predators and 100,000 other criminal aliens at large across our nation sent home and kept away from our communities by secure borders? [Link 1]

There is a certain seedy element that, after hearing these facts, can muster only one retort to the obvious truth: the race card. These lowlifes (found on both sides of the border) contend that by defending our nation, we are somehow being racist. Nothing could be further from the truth. These same people support the current border policy, and frequently encourage the flow of greater numbers of illegal border crossings. These people should look back to the headlines of last week, where 18 human beings that were being smuggled into the country suffocated in the back of an eighteen-wheeler like animals. Effective border control could have prevented all of those folks from meeting a horrifyingly terrible death. Unfortunately, the “don’t ask don’t tell” open border philosophy of today lends itself to such endings. Those who argue for the continuance of the system as it stands now should take a share of the blame for the deaths of those poor souls, but they won’t. They would much rather let the problem continue, to let the blood flow, than to heal the wound. [Link 2]

The trouble is that it is not at all racist to demand our borders be closed. It is the right thing to do. Illegal immigrants are a massive time bomb ready to destroy the entire health care system, social security system, and most other public assistance systems. Not to mention the obvious security threat our open borders pose.

Enforcing the law is not racist. It just so happens most of those breaking the law are from Mexico. Wanting secure borders is not racist. It just so happens that our least secure border is the border with Mexico.

Calling someone a racist because they are in favor of law and security...that's just plain ignorance. And ignorance is at the root of all racism. [Link 3]

Okay, so if Congress and the President change the law tomorrow removing all barriers to immigration, you'd support it, right? Are you sure your only problem with illegal immigration is that it's against the law? Because the government could very easily change the law. You'd have to come up with a different argument, then.

Being anti-immigration or anti-illegal immigration isn't intrinsically racist. Of course not. That's inflammatory and silly. You shouldn't take that criticism seriously. However, I think some people use the "law" as a guise to mask their real feelings on the matter. In a few cases, I know racism plays a part. If not racism, then xenophobia and nativism. Neither is a good trait for a human being to have. Without knowing your real reasons, I couldn't possibly say why you're so opposed to illegal immigration. I do know that the law is irrelevant since the law isn't a static force. The law should reflect what's right and wrong. So, when you reveal why you think the law is right, rather than resorting to supporting the law for the law's sake, then I'll be able to render a decision.

As for me, I disagree with the laws on the books. I disagree with a lot of laws on the books. And for those laws that I do like, I don't try to justify their existence by saying that they exist. That's circular reasoning.

If the Left truly wished to help the illegals & the 3rd world, they'd get the 3rd world governments to install infrastructure in their country. In earlier days the private business community attempted to, but the 3rd world governments thought it was appropreate to nationalize it. Now their citizens are whining to allow them to use the infrastructure installed by the 1st world in their own countries. Infrastructure allows both rich & poor to create wealth. Short sighted governments & individuals that choose to consume all assets to purchase todays fish instead of a fishing pole will always be hungry.

Actually, immigration is not illegal. I don't think there can be any such thing as an illegal immigrant... except one who breaks the law, like speeding, or robbing a bank. But we have immigration law that makes immigration legal.

What I oppose is the influx of illegal aliens. These are people who have no interest in the country. They have no loyalty to it. In fact, the only reason they're here is to waltz the system for their benefit.

I think there are aliens of almost all races. It's not a racial thing. It's simply that we don't particularly care for criminals in our country. And we certainly don't like them getting benefits which were intended for citizens. And that's without regard to race, religion, sex, or natinal origin.

I think you are completely correct. Just because we don't want people coming into our country illegally doesn't mean we are racist. If a white person where to try to come over here illegally I would stand in the same place. People just need to not twist words around and make us look bad for standing up for freedom of speech!

Lol, I'm not a leftist ANYTHING, but when I hear people (mostly white) rant about the immigration issue, they almost ALWAYS include some derogatory remark about Mexicans, and ONLY Mexicans, while ignoring the middle eastern, asian, Central american, South American, European, etc. illegal aliens. For more on this strange "But I'm not a racist!" phenomenon, check out the Editorial page of any U.S. major city newspaper.

So I say ......if it looks like it, sounds like it, smells like it, and acts like it, it probably is. And that's what pisses them off.
