I think forgiveness is knowing a person's faults and wrong doings, and accepting it, or giving them another chance. Forgiveness is always a gift, it means you did something wrong or deceitful, and someone who should have been upset let it go, because they care about you. You have to care to forgive, otherwise whats the point?

wisely knowing when a person has actually realized the harm done and is intent on changing harmful behavior, nothing to do with forgetting
giving forgiveness, firmly to the offender is something I don't give out often
if they can easily harm, they will have to show good faith, be willing to pay back if possible and not be fake about it
there is one type of forgiveness to your children or family, there is quite another for strangers
it's one thing to not know any better and make a mistake, than to have known and even plotted to harm or take from others and hope not to get caught
these types of people are only sorry they got caught, and tend to flock to christian groups where they can be forgiven/forgotten over and over until put permanently in prison
and you wonder why most prisoners are christian in claim only?

UNforgiveness is taking the wrong done to you - and bodily carrying it, and the wrong doer with you - every step and every day...
Forgiveness is dropping that weight that is weighting you down and leaving it at the foot of the cross.
18 "Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue,
but in deed and truth.
19 We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall
assure our hearts before Him,
20 in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater
than our heart, and knows all things."
1st John 3:18-20
18 "Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things
of the past.
19 Behold, I will do something new. Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in
the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
-------
25 I even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions
for My Own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
Isaiah 43:18-19,25
10 "He has not delt with us according to our sins, nor
rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so
great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."
Psalm 103:10-12
7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
Matthew 5:7
14 "For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your
Heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not
forgive your transgressions." Matthew 6:14-15
Peace.

Psalm 103:10-11: He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him.
So forgiveness is not treating someone cased on the way they treated you in the past, and it is about loving the person no matter what they do.

Forgiveness is when you turn the other cheek when someone does wrong to you. It means that you will continue to love them the way you are supposed to according to the Bible. Does it mean that you have to forget? Of course not...forgetting a wrong that is done is near impossible. It just means that you won't do something back at them and continue to show them God's love.

Nothing good can be accomplished in a day, so we are saved by hope.
Nothing good can be properly understood within the context of a single historical event, so we are saved by faith.
Nothing good can be done alone, so we are saved by love.
Nothing that we do is believed to be good when considered by our enemies, so our final salvation, is that we are saved by forgiveness.

Forgiving is not forgetting. Forgiving is giving up to God and moving on. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.
