If there was a theory about Atheism sure it should be.. but since already religions are that chaotic, i dont think that any kind of religion (as well as atheism) could be taught in schools in a really objective form.

The right thing would be an objectivity for each of them so they could, all together, be taught and then let the child choose.. That's how "Democracy" should be.

Unfortunately nobody cares for other's beliefs and everybody prefer to stand out their belief than accept others' opinions.
(The result: wars, poverty, hunger, misery etc etc..)

Also there are some economical advantages for anybody could "push" such a thing -having atheism taught in schools-.. Surely religion agents, being afraid that it would damage their "business" and would substract some future "customers", they would be pushed to make anything possible in order avert something like this. So one way for example, is to pay a big amount of money in order to fullfill their target.

Atheism in schools? Nice idea but extremely difficult..

My apologies for the off-topic paragraph.

Unfortunately my source has left me or I would post it for everyone to see. When evolution was introduced and was still being taught beside creation it was found that students had a greater knowledge of both sides rather then the slim definition that people confuse today. So I would say yes. They should teach Atheism in schools; alongside Christianity so that both can be questioned openly and hopefully we are left with less adults who claim that their questions were never answered when they questioned religion (I include Atheism in this definition).

Huh? How can you teach a belief based on the belief of no higher power? Or, are you saying that the fact that there is atheism be taught, and not just the major religions?

You cannot really teach Atheism. There is nothing to teach. All it is is a complete lack of belief in invisible beings. There are no tenets or laws or guidelines. We are all born with no knowledge of the supernatural. It takes people to indoctrinate a person with these beliefs. That is simply not natural.

Atheism cannot be taught. We do have ''set'' rules. We simply do not believe in the existence of a god.

No. I think it's time all Christian-originated nations returned to the teaching of Christianity and its specific religious values and contributions to progress back into the daily curriculum.
It is no wonder that they have led the way for many 100s of years now.
We need to more formally acknowledge that.

How could it be taught? Atheists don't believe if any god or religion so what would there be to teach about? You could teach religious tolerance to them and everyone, but then again that is what parents are for.

If by "teaching Atheism" you mean actively disproving religion, no, I don't think public schools should be involved in that.

No. Atheism is not a religion or belief system. It an absense of belief in anything higher, greater than they themselves.
