Tap water can be used, but it would be better to give your Hamster filtered water. I put colodial silver in my Hamsters' bottle so it kills the bad in the tap water, or I give them filtered water.

Filtered water would be the best for your hamster, but tap water would do just fine. Just make sure that the tap water is clear and isn't brown or green or anything. It needs to be as clean as people drink.

honestly, tap water will be perfectly fine for a hamster..
I gaurantee, this is what they get at the pet store/breeder..
if you do insist on filtered water, make sure that you can continue to give it the filtered water for the duration of its life, it might get used to it and refuse to drink anything else ..
if you simply keep it on plain tap water, you will not have to worry about the above mentioned issue ever..

tap water is just fine for the hamster.
of course filtered water would take a lot of junk removed and might be a little healthier but just like people teh tap is ok and filtered is beter but either would do.

What kinda water you use really don't matter. If your sink water is relatively clean, just use that. It sucks filtering water.

My hamster gets tap water and it seems to do him no harm. I've also given previous hamsters and gerbils tap water and all of them seemed fine on it.

Well it depends on how safe your drinking water is. Do you drink it yourself. I yes then its OK, but honestly I give mine filtered water. Just think its safer.
