The first five pounds you lose WILL ALWAYS be water weight. ALWAYS. After that, it's strictly the switch between losing body fat and gaining muscle. Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so even if you ARE toning and stuff, you'll be gaining weight.

If you don't want to become the hulk in your effort to lose weight and gain muscle, resistance weight training is the key. Don't use actual WEIGHTS, those will buff you up like wrestlers, not tone you.

A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE part is eating healthy. You don't have to give up everything you want, just learn to proportion. Eat small things throughout the day. (healthy, preferably ;P) And weekends can be treat days (EAT SOME COOKIES!)

If you can't afford a gym or there's no free sources around you- you can run and stuff. Running is a good weight loss, but not much toning. For toning, you'll have to do individual exercises. (Crunches, push ups, etc. When doing crunches, keep your legs in the air, knees bent. OR, you can keep your legs down, knees bent, one leg up so that leg's foot is on the opposing leg's knee and put your hands behind your head, then you reach left elbow to right knee, right elbow to left knee. (you don't actually touch, tho.) the last one works on your abs AND obliques).

It's really about motivation. The first two weeks or so are going to suck because you're changing your lifestyle. This is the period you'll need to be the most serious about your diet/exercise. If you break in that period, dieting will be that much harder. Also, the first two weeks or so is when you'll lose water weight. If you can stick it after that, you'll be losing body fat.

OH, eating. NEEEEVVVERRRR eat before you work out. NEVER. Because at that point, you'll be using your body energy to digest the food in your stomach, rather than work on your body fat. You can eat up to two hours before you work out, but no closer than that. You can eat directly after, but a small snack.

Also, stop eating an hour before you go to sleep and start an hour after you wake up. You don't need three meals a day, you can eat up to five (healthy!) snacks a day. It'll keep your metabolism going and help your body be more fit. (It won't think it's starving, either)

Undoubtedly, dieting/exercise is hard to get into. I had hell breaking my junk food habit. But eat stuff you like! If you like yogurt, that's great. Yogurt makes great healthy snacks! mmm. (i love yogurt). Orannngess, fruits are really good (veggies, of course too). There's lots of surprisingly healthy stuff that tastes really good.

Oh, another thing. Stop eating out. (For awhile, at least). Restaurants usually offer healthy food, but - it's got FAAAAAAAAAATTY dressing or something snuck in there. Also, fast food places (like McD's) DO have healthy food, you just have to know how to order it. if you order a salad, ask for fat free dressing, or don't have any at all. (their salads usually don't need dressing anyway).

Also, everything that says "based on 2k calorie diet"- you have to eat those 2k calories to MAINTAIN your current weight. Eating more = More weight. Eating less = less weight. But you do need calories in your diet and diets that say to eat five a day are stupid and wrong. Roughly, a 1500-1700 calorie diet, plus eating healthy and exercise will increase your chance at weight loss.

A good way to cheat the eye to wear clothes that are for your body type. people who are heavier set look better in flowing shirts, for example. Loose fitting but not baggy. If it's your stomach, you can wear something form fitting to your chest but has more material around your stomach. It gives the appearance that you're thinner and not trying to hide something. As for jeans/pants, wear your size. Just because you can fit into a 5/7, doesn't mean WEAR a 5/7. Also, don't feel bad if you find a cute pair that come in your size, but don't fit. LOTS of companies have varying sizes. (Glo pants come in NORMAL PEOPLE sizes where as Angel pants actually fit one size down. so like.. a 5 is actually a 3.) Be sure to keep that in mind. :3

It's completely understandable to fluctuate weight and lose hope and whatnot because it's not instant satisfaction.

For me strength training is the best way to burn fat while gaining muscle.
Good luck..

You need to start a slow and steady exercise routine. Does you school have a gym? If so then there will be someone there who can help you work out a routine that will get rid of anything that makes you feel insecure. If not I have to say that walking burns as many calories as jogging and walking uphill does wonder for your legs too, top and bottom I think. Also squats would be good for your legs. Don't buy into the diet pills and fad diets because they just hurt you in the long run. (The Atkins diet makes you smell of meat apparently when you sweat.) The "lot of servings a day" made me wonder. I'm not sure how much is a lot but the rule is apparently "small and often" so check that's what your going for. Fizzy drinks and junk food are an obvious "no!" because they make you bloated and lead to extreme unhealthiness. Try to cut out also too many carbs like a lot of pasta and bread because they are also bloaters. Good luck anyway.

Cardio in the morning on an empty stomach every other day. It burns 300% more fat calories (as opposed to carb stores) then at any other time of day.

Eat/drink between 1 to 1.5 gram of protein per lb of body weight. Try protein shakes. They are actually pretty tasty if you choose right.

Eat between 50% protein, 40% carbs, and 10% fat when you're trying to lose weight. Split your calorie intake into 5 to 6 meals a day. Eating too much during one sitting leads to your body turning excess calories into fat.

Lift weights. Do not worry about getting bulky muscles. It is very hard for women to get like that. Muscle is what gives women the good kind of curves. Muscle will also burn calories even when you're doing nothing.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

there is no easy way take it from me I've search for all of them and at one point i used to weight 230lbs now I'm about 45 lbs less the only way to do it is to walk 30 minutes a day of 10,000 steps and exercise at least 3 days a week (crunches, squats, leg lifts etc..) decrease stress, don't eat 3-4 hours before bed, stay hydrated, eat very little junk food and decrease food in take by 1/3 (most Americans eat too much) make a schedule and stick with it . and most importantly have people who support you not people who force food down your throat or try to persuade you to eat...and you can do it have faith i did!!!!!!! most importantly don't try to fit other peoples standards be your our definition of beautiful.

Cut out sugar, fried food, fast food, and snacks that end in :ito." And MOVE! Walking is great exercise. Also swimming, treadmill, and stationary bike. Eat only when you're hungry. not bored. Drink lots of water, and go to sleep a little bit hungry. You'll feel great in the morning!! If you're about to cheat, go brush your teeth. You can do it!! :)
